yeah, he was kidnapped at gunpoint from his driveway while he was waiting for his wife. he was driven to a bank and forced to withdraw money in exchange for his life.
he was actually pretty lucky. besides drug trafficking, Kidnapping for ransom is the biggest illegal "business" in Mexico. He could have easily been taken to a house for weeks while they asked his family and brother for money.
I had a friend in South Texas who's pops had been kidnapped. He is or was, i havent talked to her in about 3 years, an executive of a successful textile company based out of Monterrey, Mx. I was at her crib one day and was talking to her dad and noticed that he was missing half of his wedding ring finger. I later asked her what happened because MY dad is missing half of his index due to a construction company. So I was assuming it had to do something with him being in the factory, but she told me that, about 10 years ago, he had gone missing for about a week untill they received a call demanding 300,000K for him. 2 days later, they sent them the piece of his finger with the wedding ring.
So they paid the 300,000K and he was released outside of Mexico D.F. which is a couple of hours away from Monterrey. Mexico is crazy son.Comment

I think it depends where you lived. I spent time in Monterrey and witnessed some ****, but where I've seen the most ****ed up **** is in Matamoros where I spent half of my life. But Mexico has one of the highest kidnapping/ransom stats in the world.Comment

I've lived in Guatemala.. Only thing you have to worry bout is inditos getting in machete fights, dudes in bar fights shooting at each other, and talkin **** to the wrong person who could be a narco or a drug dealer.. over there they don't care they will gun you down like nothing.. if you keep to yourself and mind your own and not get in anyones business you should be alright.. I think it's like that in most places of latin america.Comment
