The latest statement from Team Palle adds some trash talk to the muddy picture (I guess we have wait on WBA to make a decision):

Danish matchmaker Mogens Palle said Wednesday that he has checked with the World Boxing Association and has been informed that a May 28 super middleweight title defense by Anthony Mundine against Sam Soliman has not been approved.

“We learned that this ridiculous third bout between the two was announced for the Vodafone Arena in Melbourne, Australia, on that date. They held a press conference which attracted little attention. Only five press people showed up,” Palle said. “Nobody cares about that match against a smaller middleweight who Mundine has twice beaten and even knocked down four times.”

Palle, whose daughter Bettina is former WBA-WBC champion Mikkel Kessler’s manager-promoter, said the organization had not even been asked to authorize Mundine-Soliman III.

“Mikkel, who is 39-1 and has only a loss to undefeated Joe Calzaghe, is now the official challenger to Mundine. Mundine won a vacant title in March, 2007, and has now gone 13 months without making a required or mandatory defense. We have asserted our rights and told the WBA we’re ready to make Kessler-Mundine II a reality in the end of May or the start of June.”

In his first defense of the WBA belt, Kessler went to Sydney and outpointed Mundine over 12 rounds.

“Despite the silly opponents Anthony has chosen, we see it as another tough fight. I’d say that Mundine is improving with experience. But we’re comfortable that Mikkel will beat him again. Mundine must step up for the mandatory challenge or give up the world title.

“I would hope Mundine would prefer to try Kessler again rather than having his world title stripped for not complying with WBA rules. He does refer to himself as ‘The Man’ so I would really hope so. It is a WBA world title and is not limited to a WBA Australian title.

It looks like Shennanigans on Kessler.. but even more shennanigans on Mundine. As always Miranda is ready. I hope when Miranda finally gets a strap(fingers crossed). He doesn't act like this.

I got some more. This time from Team Soliman who calls Palle an idiot!!(knockoutnetwork):

“The contracts are signed and they are on file in the WBA offices. Sam Soliman is fighting Anthony Mundine on May 28 and the WBA is honoring the contracts for the fight,” Jeff Wald, executive producer of The Contender, told me on Thursday night.

This is, of course, in reference to promoter Mogens Palle making waves about Mundine-Soliman and telling the Danish press that his fighter, Mikkel Kessler, deserves the shot at the title because he was recently named as mandatory challenger for the WBA crown.

“Mogens Palle is an idiot,” Wald continued. “He has no right to interfere with our fighter (Soliman). He has done a horrible job with Kessler and now he is moving on to Soliman. Kessler is a great kid and a terrific fighter and I have nothing against him but Palle is senile.

“The contracts are done and there is nothing that Palle can do about it. He should be more concerned about the damage done to the career of his fighter after he pulled out of a fight that had already been agreed to.”

Wald also had a suggestion to make things right.

“Kessler pulled out of a fight that he accepted (vs. Edison Miranda on May 24 on Showtime) because Palle thought he could move him right back into a world title fight. Why doesn’t he fight Miranda and the winner can fight the winner of Sam’s fight with Mundine?”

Mundine-Soliman is scheduled to take place on May 28 at the Vodafone Arena in Melbourne, Australia."

Sometimes the tone here on BS is rough.... It seems also to be the case in the 'real' boxing world..........

Kessler's team are clearly ****ing this up.

Let's not read into this that Edison Miranda is some kind of fearsome individual though. Miranda is not all that good. It can't be about that

that's funny. Team Kessler has really done a great job of maneuvering Kessler firmly between a rock and a hard place. I'd really like to see Miranda smash Soliman. That would be entertaining. I wanna see Miranda smash all of them. On another note.. If Miranda does somehow manage to beat Kessler.. He could generate major interest in a fight with Calzaghe. Beating Kessler if convincingly would be more reasonable than fighting MW Pavlik at the moment.
