I agree with Max on this one. It's for the damn LINEAR lightweight championship of the world! There should be no stoppages unless the ref is ABSOLUTELY SURE the fighter cannot continue. Katsidis was still up with his hands up.

He didn't even look wobbly to me but then again he wasn't standing right infront of me like he was the ref. But also boxing is slightly corrupt and for some reason the past couple of fights the boxing wanted casamayor to win even though he lost to cruz. I don't care what they say the official score cards had Katsidis ahead, because for all we know those score cards could have been planted like that even though i agree he was winning. But what I mean by planted is that if it went to the judges score cards for all we know those score cards could have magically changed for Casamayor in a one sideded win for casamayor because boxing is corrupt like that... I'm one to believe in conspiracy's. But I can't knock casamayor because for an old fighter he fought the fight he had to. He still lost to cruz and the win next to his name against cruz is crap.

It wasn't a bad stoppage by any means, but if he'd given it another 10 seconds perhaps Kat would've recovered. Probably not. He didn't dispute the stoppage himself so it's likely that he was pretty hurt.

But I can see where Max was coming from. The thread title is a tad misleading...

When a stopped fighter doesn't give the WTF arm pose to the ref and crowd you know he's done. The last knockdown was brutal and the stoppage looked premature cuz the ref didn't let Casa start a flurry. He landed a couple punches and the ref jumped in, rightfully so before Katsidis could take any more. There have been a lot worse stoppages than that. Max was just in the middle of hyping up Katsidis from the 4th rd on and he felt salty havin his foot in in his mouth.

how can the threadstarter bash kellerman when larry merchant does the same thing, but way more. larry merchant bashes fighters like mayweather jr, and paulie, and praises fighters like manny because they fight the way they do, and he seems to get so much respect from posters on this forum, but when kellerman says something, he gets bashed. people on this forum are ****ing hypocrites to the core. i bet if larry merchant complained about the stoppage, this thread wouldn't have been made.

Max was right - Katsidis was starting to recover, he likely would have survived the round and perhaps come back to win the fight.

He was ahead in the fight up until that punch caught him. A lot of fighters have been hurt worse and come back to win.

After watching the HBO broadcast of Michael Katsidis Vs Joel Casamayor I was once again reminded of the idiot that Max is.

Katsidis fought a great fight and it was a great match to watch.

He took a few punches and was obviously very messed up when the ref stopped it.

If the fight went on he obviously could have been ruined and it could have led to him being seriously injured in a big way.

Kellerman kept going on how he thought the fight should have gone on and kept disagreeing with Lennox about it.

What does Max want: Does he want Brain Damage and Death???

He is such a wanker.


Katsidis is young and can come back and do lots of things and even in the post fight interview he was not annoyed about the fight being stopped.

Max Kellerman should not be on HBO, he is not qualified and just speaks rubbish the whole time and cause he knows some history he just babbles on and makes ****** comparisons.

Kellerman wanted Katsidis to win so bad.

First off the stoppage I think was definitely legit. I mean Katsidis was eating flush punches and even though I do think he had the capacity to make a dramatic comeback from that point: He was absorbing too much punishment. His eye was already just ****ing horrible.

I do however think Kellerman had a right to think the stoppage was questionable. I think he might be a bit more ******* about fight regulations etc yes..........but saying he wants fighters to die? lol

If it was earlier in a fight, by all means let it go on. When it is late in a fight like that, a fighter is less likely to recover and more likely to suffer more damage due to being gassed out and not having reserves in the tank.

It is better to play it safe in situations like that.
