All this talk of chins, how about Muhammed Ali!?!

Hey how about undoubtably one of the best chins in boxing Muhammed Ali. I mean the guy got his head turned inside out the entire 1st fight with the best left hooker of all time Joe Frazier. And got off his ass in the 15th with what i think is one of the biggest and hardest punches in boxing history. I think a lot of ppl forget about how good his chin was because of all the other great things he possesed, foot work, speed, punching power, and the ability ro make ppl miss. But if a fighter decides to stand against the ropes and take punches just to let the other man tire out, he has to have a great chin.

Muhammad Ali definately had one of the best chins of all time. With all his physical skills and his personality, that is often overlooked.

The most obvious choices are often left out.

His current condition is testament to his chin. It's what saved his career at the top and allowed him to successfully adjust his style after his footspeed diminished.

I remember watching that fight from '63, where the English boxer Henry Cooper hit him, and he went down and was actually out for a few seconds - a lot of referees would have stopped the fight...

Ali was lucky he had 60 seconds between rounds to recover.

Any man willing to use his face for defense for 6 rounds and have the balls to call the man beating on him the dope better have a good chin otherwise we would all still be laughing at how dumb that plan was. One of the best chins of all time? Yep. But THE best?? Definitely not. He had a tendency to fall asleep mentally and get dropped not just by strongest, but by nobodies that had no business even hurting him.

I think most people do say that Ali had a great chin.

The Shavers fight more than any other showed his chin.

I was more impressed actually by Ali's ability to absorb body punches than head punches.

Body punches are supposed to slow you down. Ali dominated the late rounds in Manila being in the intense heat and getting absolutely murdered to the body. Ali also went strong in Zaire despite taking a lot of hard body shots from Foreman, and also being in intense heat.
