Boring? Who cares? Clottey's the premier technical boxer in the division. He doesn't eat any shots and he picks his spots. He wins rounds. He wins fights. Who cares what the haters say.
Ya know if Cotto were fighting Clottey people would be impressed he's taking such a high risk low reward fight, but I think Gomez is the tougher fight.
Clottey's style is perfect for Cotto. He'd be able to get into his rhythm right away. He'd time the jab so easily, and punish Clottey's midsection with body blows while he holds his guard up.
Cruz wasn't hurt at all, and he had a punchers' chance of winning the fight.
No, no he didn't.
The fight wasn't going to change at all. Clottey was going to batter him all night. Cruz was well on his way to looking like William Joppy when he was through with Bernard Hopkins.
That being said, by normal standards, that was a poor stoppage. Cruz had virtually 0 chance to win the fight however.
I wouldn't mind seeing Clottey-Cotto. Two good body punchers. Clottey's defense is solid, too. Cotto still wins though. I think Clottey is a tougher fight for Cotto than Gomez because of his defense. Gomez is somewhat easy to hit.

My god Cotto would put a serious beating on Clottey. You are exactly right. I have felt the same thing ever since I watched Clottey in that grueling fight with Gutierrez. He allows his body to take the punishment, but against a smarter, harder hitter in Cotto he'd pay dearly for that ignorance. Cotto would eat him up with body work and sharp counters.
