No fanbase to speak of? I disagree with that. Stylistically, he's not the greatest but hardcore boxing fans recognize his skill and I think root for him. He's pretty well respected imo. Unfortunately, he was never on a reality television program.

Yeah I think Hardcore boxing fans recognize his abilities and his work ethic. He's an athlete, and fights accordingly in the ring. And he has that less than stellar looking boxing style that seems herky jerky at times.

But he runs 10 miles a day. So I think it's clear that he's going to be a live body against anyone he fights. Also I think people moreso identify with Clottey and would Pull/root for him because he's the dark horse type.

Respected yeah I agree with, but a A- class fighter at his best.

Clottey is a very good talent, but to me Arum has done a good job for him if you consider:

1) his biggest wins are over Corrales and Alvarez.

2) he has a difficult style that other managers try to avoid

3) he has no fanbase to speak of.

Clottey doesn't help his situation by not attending fights or seeming interested in any other fight for that matter. When he's not in the ring, he disconnects from boxing.

I hate Clottey's overrated ass, when ever he fights a journeyman. I just hope to god one of them beat him. He doesn't even try to step in the ring against good competition anymore, I guess Arum knows how limited Clottey truly is

But I agree that he doesn't get much recognition. Sure, some hardcore boxing fans do but take a look around on this forum...it's composed of people who spend way too much time watching and talking about boxing and his name is very rarely brought up.

He should step the **** up, ever since he lost to margarito he keeps fighting crappy competition against fighters who shouldn't even be in the same damn ring as him. He didn't even get his ass kicked by margarito, he just lost that fight. So, whats up with the step down like fights like these? Fighting a fighter who lost to the guy that was nearly ko'd by clottey... Wow, how impressive will it be if clottey ko's the journey man he fights tonight?

Understandable to say he's overrated and you don't like him as a fighter, I just thought "hate" was a little much. Maybe I'm being too sensitive lol

Clottey could scare anyone in the division. That is why he hasn't been able to get a big time fight lately. Cintron decided he'd rather take on Marg.

As far as Clottey's losses go, the Baldomir loss was actually a win, he was winning the fight easily until being DQed. He was cruising with Margarito until he broke his hand and lost a close one.The guy is this close to being undefeated but he can't get a shot because of the politics of boxing. Maybe Arum is to blame, but not totally.

cruising???? ummmm i dont know if that's what you can call crusing. especially since he only one the first few rounds dont forget margarito is a slow starter or should i say was(he has changed that) most people win the first 2 3 4 rounds against him if not split them. Also don't forget Margarito was coming of a layoff of over a year margarito would beat him again if they fought now. clottey is nothing more then a strong tough fighter no real threat to the uppers in the division.
