Klitschko was ahead in the fight...but he was leaking and taking on water.
If the ref had not stopped it,Lewis would have knocked him out.

If there was a re-match,Lewis would have trained properly....and then knocked him out.
For all you Klit apoligists...he lost!...get over it.

Lewis could not have fought another round. The stoppage was goood, and Len deserved the win. But if you think Len could have fought even one more round, you must not have watched the end of that fight.

Hence the tragedy. They kind of both lost, and both won. The stoppage was good, but the ref could have also reasonably stopped it in Klit's favor at the same time, as Len was unable to continue as well.

And Lewis did train properly. They both took the fight on short notice, neither guy had an advantage there

Lewis also had a big impact on the sport, when he left the HW division fell big time. He was one of the greatest fighters of his time and people don't give him the respect he deserves. Klitshko faught a hard fight also but it wasn't enough to knock Lewis down before the fight was stopped because of the cut. If everyone is complaining that the doctor should'nt have ended it then what strategy does a boxer have when he cuts his opponents eye. Klitshko should've been satisfied that the match wasn't stopped earlier. They both faught a good fight but in the end Lewis got the win he really deserved because of his effort in the later rounds.

Vitali however was able to take Lewises punch, and Lewis was getting tired. Minus the fact that he was basically fighting with one eye for 3 rounds and that he had more in the reserve then Lewis did.

Lewis didn't give Vitali a rematch that he promised for a good reason, because it was more then likely that he would lose.

The fact he weighed in almost 8 pounds heavier than the Tyson fight suggests he wasn't as in-shape as he could have been. Lewis took big Vit lightly and nearly paid the price but like all great champs showed balls to come through a tough fight.

A few months after the Tyson fight. This doesn't sound like a guy with much intention of sticking around as the #1 HW of the era. He ran out drive, that's why he retired, not because of Vitali.

Lewis getting tired has nothing to do with anything, as I said if Lewis fell that would be another story and could be argued. Lewis was tired but was giving it all he had in the later rounds. Whether Klitshko was fighting with one eye for 3 round or 12 rounds doesn't really matter. If it went any longer, the eye would become worse then it allready was. If they feel that the fighter is in danger and could no longer defend themselved then they are obligated to stop it.

Hahaha, this is a good video. It shows his confidence he has whenever he fights an opponent. In there he mentions that Vitali isn't ready for him and that he'd knock him out. Also he said that there wasn't anyone else to fight in the division so he retired.

It's Wladimir he mentions, as that time he was the WBO titlist and supposed #1 contender to Lewis' crown.

have not read the whole thread as short on time!

But i think if lennox had trained for vitali this time for a rematch vitali would have had his lights switched off within 6 rounds. BOSH.
