Steve Molitor vs. Fernando Beltran on Apr 5

Undefeated IBF super bantamweight titleholder Steve Molitor faces his most difficult opponent yet in his pro career, his mandatory Fernando Beltran.

Beltran has never been stopped or seriously hurt in a fight. He's faced some world class opponents, such as Joan Guzman, to whom he lost a close decision.

Forget Bute, Molitor is the best fighter in Canada at the moment. He is as slick as they come, but his weakness in the power department could eventually cost him. I expect him to win an reletively easy decision against Beltran, but I would like to see Molitors chin tested because to my knowledge it hasn't really been tested yet. I personally give Molitor a decent chance against Vasquez and Marquez and against Ponce de Leon I think he wins easily. Molitor is one of boxings best kept secrets.

Yes, I think Molitor would outbox Ponce de Leon.

But the mandatory opponent he's facing tonight, Fernando Beltran Jr, is a very good fighter - he's never been stopped or even down in a fight. This will be a big test for Molitor...

Iceman wants his boy Mike Oliver to fight Molitor. He thinks Mike can beat him.

Superbantam is loaded with Vasquez,Marquez, Caballero, and a slew of others. Molitor needs to beat someone really legit to get my full respect as a champ.

I am guessing this is gonna be on Canadian tv. Anybody with a stream?

Wait, so Calderon, Khan, Molitor, and Strum are all fighting today?

          Jesus christ.

Molitor defeated Nicky Booth (friend of mine) back in 2002 on points for the Commonwealth Bantamweight Title in my hometown.

This was when he was a prospect, now he looks to be the real deal. He may lack power, but he can become dangerous on pure boxing skills, like Calderon. (Also fighting tonight)

Molitor is a good fighter, and one of the best from current Canadian fighters. However, something seems to be missing from his game. I can't quite place it but he gives me that same feeling that some so-called greats from Canada in the past have given me, and they all bombed out. I think Bute has been better managed and that is why I think P4P in Canada, Bute is better.

I have to admit I am not sold on him yet. I have watched most of his fights over the past couple years and while I think he has fought decent competition, he has not fought any really good competition.

That 3K battery guy knocked him down even though it was not ruled as such. He is slick and quick, but as others have said in this thread, his lack of real power will end up costing him I think. He is however a good prospect and they do seem to be moving him along slowly.

                On the other hand...

Bute seems WAY more protected in his quests. I am not sure why or how they re-animated the corpse of former fighter William Joppy for his last fight, but that was simply a travesty. Do they not have any faith in their fighter at all?

I really like Molitor but like others have mentioned I would like to see him tested. Last night on TSN they said that he was listed (along with Khan) at the top of ESPN’s list of fighters they want to see fight in the U.S.
