      Thanks for answering that question.

-Did you spend 5 years in prison? Can you tell us what it's like from personal experience?

      Thanks in advance comrade.
Yes I sometimes played wiffle ball on the same streets where a teenage Bernard Hopkins was robbing old ladies. Forgive me if this fact makes me feel a bit disillusioned about the whole "street" thing.

          • my thing with this you keep failing to mention is b-hop was in the project before he moved to germantown. and thats when his pops was around. they only probable moved out because his moms got a nice size check from his dad dying.( in those times in the project he was already learning to do wrong, it don't make it no better cause you move) it probable made it worse cause he lost his father. i sorry but they was struggling moms with 2-3 jobs and 8 kids. that mean some of the kids was not getting what they need or wanted. that leads them to steal. welcome to black america

Hopkins grew up in the 70's anyways you ****ing moron. Those stats are meaningless. Besides, I don't care if he grew up in Wonderland. He still got an 18 year sentence at age 17. You don't get that for stealing hub cabs and candy? You should try doing somthing more constructive with your time like hanging yourself.

Yeah no one has ever used that line before.

I keep logging back on waiting for this thread to be put on the second page. It never happens because too many MTV gangsters are invested in another man's "street" image.

You kids who grew up on rap videos need to stop telling me about other people you think experienced "the street." You also need to come to terms with the reality you face, and stop purchasing prepackaged iden****** from TV and Bernard Hopkins.

Holy lord. That is just dripping with restrained animosity, isn't it? I just find life to be full of gray rather than black and white, you know Kayjay? I don't think anyone who thinks Bernard grew up in a crack house is much better than someone who thinks he's being 100% dishonest. I mean, facts are he fell in with the wrong crowd and went to jail. To me, "******" is a mentality- not just a location- and regardless of the socioeconomic status of his youth Hopkins became quite a thug somewhere along the line.

Animosity toward whom? I'm not even talking about Bernard Hopkins, so I hope you don't mean him. He had a childhood similar to my own, so I would hardly denigrate him for that.

It's a little silly that so many kids find this offensive. If you don't find amusement in that fact as much as I do, then we just differ on this.

"******" is a mentality? Okay then, what kind of mentality is it? Do these kids who protest against the facts I've revealed have that mentality? If they slouch their shoulders but never visited a crackhouse, can they still be ******?
