I'm just curious.. I made a thread earlier regarding who would bring more fans, and the common response was that Hatton is simply more popular.. I don't live there, so why is that?
Why is Hatton more popular than Calzaghe in the UK?

Simple Calzaghe is'nt Box Office for a start
Eubank ,Naz ,Hatton are box office
JUnior Witter is not Box Office neither was Michael Watson that is why he ended up fighting on the undercard to Benn v Eubank when he had alreadly beaten Benn
its about charisma and personality ,fighting style ,sound bytes in interviews all that kinda stuff ,Eubanks & Naz interviews alone were worth paying your money for

Hatton picked up aload of manchester city fans so he always got huge numbers at his fights early in his career which always helps. Calzaghe's popularity went up alot when he was on ITV and he won Sports Personality of the Year (top sports award in the UK) which helped
doesn't help that hes on setanta tho not many people have the channel!

Calzaghe simply has no charisma
He would never have been as big as Benn, Eubank or Hamed if his fights were on ITV (a few of his last fights HAVE been on ITV!), because he just doesn't have their charisma
Hatton picked up a lot of fans early in his career from Steve Foster Sr, Anthony Farnell and Manchester City FC - he got super-lucky there! The seeds were planted and they just grew, but Hatton isn't anything like a household name like Frank Bruno or Chris EubankComment

The Man City fans it helped him out when he was younger. Although Hatton is fairly popular he is no where near as big as Bruno, Benn and Eubank where.Calzaghe simply has no charisma
