    The best super middleweight ever?

does that make you an ATG.

    Certainly a British ATG.

I mean JC isn't breaking down social boundaries, bringing communities together and all that other extra curricular stuff that seems to influence these kind of things.

But if he beats Hops and Pavlik retires 46-0...he has a case. Certainly.

Any arguments of hey this guy would have beaten him would have been hard to apply, because no one would have beaten him.

    A few if's though there....lol.

WHAT?, Jones fought Hopkins, Toney, McCallum, Johnson, Hill, and he's supposed to be scared of Calzaghe?? What a spastic you are, i supposed he moved to heavyweight to beat Ruiz to make doubly sure he wouldnt have to face JC! No mate JC and Warren stayed in Wales during the 90's fighting bums i'd never heard of before or since instead of going to face a prime Jones/Hopkins

I only give him credit for the win over Kessler, but the jury is still out on Kessler. This man's resume and accomplishments are not that impressive and a win over a washed up Hopkins will not change that.

Calzaghe fans, what has Joke done to be considered great?
Noone thought JC was trash until he beat Lacy. They just tried to underestimate him when ever the could. But when he beat Lacy they had less excuse to trash him.
Kessler was bigged up and rightly so. Noone could expose Kessler and it took a 36 six year old to do it. JC had to turn up in shape for those 21 defences. Other champs have failed against people they should have beat. Jc hasnt. Hes done the business.
If JC beats HOpkins like no other than JC will get credit for it. Dont matter what you say. Hopkins is light heavy champ. End of.

being the most dominant super middleweight in the world for a decade.

in any sport, under any conditions, to remain at the top of your game for a decade is an incredible achievement.

            Another Johnny Come Lately...

Boy this forum is full of them; started watching boxing in 2000 and now think they understand everything that happened before that time simply by looking at boxrec.

And most of the time, like this guy, there facts are all wrong.

I love the fact that he has defeated six World Champions throughout his career, including the so-called new Mike Tyson, Jeff Lacy.

When he first became a World Champion the foreign media never gave him a chance.

Has anyone in the history of the sport been a World Champion for as long as he has? I think maybe Joe Louis and that is it.

                It is pretty awe-inspiring.

To be a World Champion for five years is rare, but for well over a decade? That is truly amazing, no matter how much that fighter happens to weigh.

I believe that the undefeated, Undisputed Super-Middleweight Champion of the World fully deserved the MBE he received from the Queen last year.

                  haha, best post today.

i didn't read more than the first page. i don't know why i feel compelled to wright in this thread when there 1000 a day like this, but whatever.

you can't deny calzaghe has a padded record. but it's what i see in his fights that make me think he may one day be considered a great (i'll wait until his career is over). his reflexes and boxing intelligence, i think, is unmatched at 168. he's pretty damn impressive to watch. once you get past the padded record you'll see a guy who has all the potential and skill in the world. he's so smart from a boxing standpoint, that even if he loses to hopkins, he'd be able to figure him out in a rematch.

i think the fight with b-hop is going to be a really, really ugly fight. definitely a really interesting match-up though.

im british but i have to agree that u cant consider calzaghe a great yet. its a shame because i think he had the talent to be. as bernard said how many great fighters has calzaghe beat? look at his resume.

Yeah, jog on. Come back when you've accomplished what Calzaghe has.
