You guys know that Calzaghe was almost beaten by Robin Reid and what was Reid's main weapon in that fight? A counter right hand. Jones' lead right would be a nightmare for Calzaghe, the speed and angles he threw it from would have Calzaghe tentative to open up. Calzaghe even said he didn't want a piece of Jones.

Calzaghe broke his hand in the Robin Reid fight and had a really bad fight, he has learnt to avoid it since. Montel Griffin was beating Jones imo before the KD in thier fight.

The whole interview of Calzaghe claiming he didn't want Jones is ******. I've seen the actual video of him saying it and he was smiling and laughing, basicly bigging Jones up and being respectful. There was nothing serious in it.

Green is what a fighter is before they become champion and Hopkins did not beat good opposition until after the Jones fight. After the loss to Jones, he didn't get his hands on a belt until 6 more fights after that when he beat Mercado in the rematch. You wouldn't call that green? The Hopkins that beat Glen Johnson was in his prime. That was when he had his ora down, his skills had picked up and he was an all around better fighter.

Believe it or nor, Lacy was not as green as Hopkins because 1, he fought top 10 guys at that point and beat them 2, he had a title belt at the time. He was the IBF/IBO super middleweight champion and had some goods wins over Sydvanderpool and the experienced Robin Reid. Again, Hopkins didn't have any major titles nor beat a top fighter or contender at that point. The more experienced Hopkins that beat Glen Johnson would have loss a close decision to prime Jones.

That weight drained James Toney would wipe his ass with Lacey and Kessler. That version of Hopkins is also a higher caliber fighter than Lacey....by FAR and would also beat Kessler.
In what other fight did Toney have to be hooked up to Ivs or had to be hospitalized? That was Toney in the worse physical shape in his life. Look at the physical shape he was in when he beat Iran Barkley at 168? He was trim, lean and had great stamina. The Toney that fought Jones was fat, slow and couldn't fight more than minute of one single round.

Also, i would favor Kessler and Lack both over the early green Hopkins and weighted drained Toney because they could simply out work him. Again, Toney couldn't fight more than a minute of each round. Hopkins and Toney at their best could beat Lacy and Kessler but not the versions that Jones fought. People underestimate Lacy after the loss to Calzaghe. Lacy in reality was a very good champion. It was just the skills and experience of Calzaghe that overwhelmed him. Lacy could have became a better fighter after the loss as well but he took too long to return is mentally not right as of now. Don't underestimate Kessler and Lacy because there is no shame in that. Calzaghe is the greatest super middleweight of this era and maybe of all time. He accomplished some great things.

When Slick says Calz faced bigger threats and you defend that, You are saying that Calz has the better resume.. Thats the point.

But the counter right hand was what made Reid so effective and I never got why Calzaghe never gave him a rematch.

Griffin was frustrating Jones, but I had Jones was winning by a point or two. It was Griffin's style that gave Jones problems in the first fight, all questions were answered in the second fight.

A prime Roy Jones was a freak of nature. Its hard to pick anyone over him on his best day.

When did Calzaghe say he didn't want a piece of Jones?

Calzaghe didn't give him a rematch because Reid demanded too much money. I think it' possible to fight bigger threats yet still not have a better resume than someone. Calzaghe's two biggest wins were bigger threats than Jones' but he didn't fight enough of them.

About the Griffin fight... How can you call a 1 round KO answering all the questions? Griffin didn't get enough time to box Jones like he did in the first.
