Your Official Standpoint on Calzaghe vs Hopkins

I know there are countless Calzaghe vs Hopkins threads, but I want you to officially state your verdict in here. What I'm basically trying to avoid is Calzaghe fans overrating Hopkins after the fight (should he win) having called him a washed up old man in their prediction or Hopkins fans saying claiming B-Hop was just a washed up old man (should he lose) having predicted he was going to whup Calzaghe.

I don't want there to be a place to hide for people on April 19th. If you're man enough, state your prediction. I want it all on record, so we have the victory of either fighter in proper context.

    I'll start.

My Prediction: Calzaghe to win a close UD, having been frustrated by Hopkins all night but not really challenged.

Calzaghe should win by decision in a very close fight, but Hopkins will give him the hardest test of his life. A prime Hopkins beats up Calzaghe and this victory over Hopkins means very little in the scheme of things.

Hopkins to take Calz to school. The first 4 rounds will probably be Joe's, but Hop will start to turn on the wisdom, and will begin to seriously counter Joe and go on the attack heavy perhaps once or twice a round. IMO Hop won't be hurt by Calz' punches, and even though he's not going to just let Calz hit him, he wont be as hesitant to throw against Joe's punches.

Calzaghe will likely win. It will be a close UD on the scorecards, although it will be wider in reality.

It won't be easy, however - Hopkins will resort to a lot of dirty stuff, and likely will eventually cut Joe with a steaky headbutt over an eye, as he did to Wright. Hopefully Joe will keep his cool, however, and win most of the rounds without being seriously hurt by B-Hop's punches.

The wild card is the referee, Cortez. If Hopkins feels he can get away with everything, it will make a difference. If Joe is hurt by a headbutt, and Hopkins hits him a few times, we could have an early stoppage from Cortez with Hopkins winning an undeserved TKO.

I'm going for an SD in favour of Hopkins.

Calzaghe UD... but Hopkins makes it very difficult and maybe even gets Calzaghe in trouble at some point in the fight
