I agree and respect what you're saying. You made me look at it from a different angle. After watching John Duddy at the Garden a couple of times, and especially his latest fight with Walid Smichet, it's as if Duddy WANTED to get hit. Like as if he were trying to showcase his chin. I could be wrong, but I know a few Boxers that have that "He can't Hurt me" mentality. Ricardo Mayorga is on the top of the list, inviting pure hitters to take a shot at his chin. If I could sum up Danny Green in one word....FEARLESS!

I'd still watch John Duddy. "Any Boxer" that comes to fight.....I am a fan.

That makes no sense whatsoever? What does being Irish have to do with him being popular, and believe it or not, I can almost gurantee you there are other fighters who reside in New York City that you've never even heard of, so those two points are void.

          Maybe he's popular because he's 24-0?

Duddy is popular because he is Irish and likes to fight, plain and simple.
He's not a world-beater for sure, but I think he gets criticized a bit much.
I think that people instantly hate on a guy that gets a lot of hype without doing much, that's the big thing.

Walid Smitchet isn't a bad fighter and he fought him ok, and he showed warrior spirit against Eastman, a cagey vet with some thunder in his fists.

He's entertaining enough though, he is in good fights and I don't think his popularity will diminsh much if he loses.
The good thing about him is that we don't expect much so he's safe versus Andy Lee who Manny Steward and the boxing community hyped way too much.

A ko loss for Duddy wouldn't be shocking so the fall out will be a lot less.

He could end up being an Irish Mickey Ward type sooner or later.

I don't think he wanted to to be honest, he's just not that good.
Anyone will tell you, even a punch from Corey Spinks tends to hurt.
It may actually work to his advantage as far as his limited skills go.
                      He's no slickster for sure.
