    John Duddy....Your thoughts?

I've been hearing people saying lately that he is one of the most "overated" fighters in the middleweight division. He is one, if not, my favorite boxer, so i'm trying to be un-biased here and really get some good opinions on him.

He's currently 24-0 (17 KO's). Now his ring history so far is obviously impressive, but if i'm correct The Ring Magazine ranked him 10th in the middleweight division. Boxrec has him ranked 11th globally. How can this be? I know he hasn't foughten big names, besides Howard Eastman, but still, I don't understand how gets off earning an overated title when I believe quite the contrary, that he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

People think hes a bum due to his defense and struggle to take out fighters who should'nt even go the distance with him.

The middleweight being a crowded division with hard hitters, it basically clouds thier judgement.

Hard hitters + Fighter who get hit alot = Easy to beat. People think that.

arthur abrahams and Pavlik knock duddy the **** out... Oh, and I almost forgot to mention taylor too... Hell, even zertuche can beat that ass most likely.

But then again, I think Duddys management team sucks ass. I think he is managed poorly and soon enough will get ktf out

Never thought of it that way, but that would make sense.

Counter Question: Is Pavlik-Duddy a realistic fight?

Now I know Pavlik has dismantled Jermain Taylor twice which not even Bernard Hopkins, Cory Spinks, or Winky could do. Duddy is 24-0 but ranked 10th and Pavlik ranked 1st obviously, it's been talked about, could Duddy be the one to challenge Pavlik?

Duddy was taking flush shots in his last fight, now if that was Pavlik he'd been ko'd in the first round since Duddy doesn't realize you need to block and not take so many damn punches to the head

Duddy can challenge Pavlik, that's about it, but to beat him? I don't think so. Pavlik isn't a perfect fighter, but Duddy does have quick combinations. I would give Duddy a chance at forcing a stoppage by a ref who stops it prematurely. Not being funny or anything, but Pavlik is hard to drop from what i've seen. THis is boxing though, anything can happen. I think Duddy can PROBALY throw combinations and win a MD or SD at most. Hes going to have to avoid the ropes and that right hand, and that Left hook to the body.. Its gonna be a HARD ASS TASK.

hes a natural fighter, meaning he likes to , well to put it simply just fight! he just wants to get in there and fight, sometimes that can work, a lot of well known fighters have this courageous but dangerous style, some who employed this style, like jake la motta went on to be legends, others, like lester ellis (ever heard of him, see!) went on to win a world title at an early age,(lester won the IBF jr lw title at age 19) mostly just by blowing there opponents away, before coming up against a skilled fighter and getting taken apart, (as happened to lester) , many who use this style also sustain a lot of punishment and injuries (arturo gatti, lester ellis, danny green, micky ward) while others just get pummeled and never achieve anything in boxing (plenty of fighters) as for duddy, i think his fate lies in option 2/3 ,he will win a world title, bash a few guys up, before getting beaten badly by stronger and more technical fighters, probably retiring attempting a few comebacks before getting as real ass kicking and deciding to finally give it away....

Duddy is always going to be fun to watch just like Gatti was, win or lose. Will he be THE Champion? Doubtful, but I could see him winning a title if Pavlik moves up to SMW.

I don't get all the Duddy hate. How can you not like a limited fighter like him, who leaves it all on the line in spite of his limitations in every fight?

I've only seen Duddy once and that was his last fight. I must admit that I couldn't believe he was mentioned as an opponent for Pavlik.

Hes best defense to a right hand is a left cheek.

He cuts up real easy, so if he doesnt work on the D he aint gonna last long. Should he get a titleshot soon it's gonna be bloody murder IMO.
