In my opinion, there can be no right or wrong answer.

It all comes down to how a person defines British.

I do not believe that merely possessing a a paper booklet (passport) with 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' on the front of it neccessarily makes somebody British.

I am very sorry if I have offended anyone.

Yes, his Grandparents moved over from Pakistan, exactly.

        You Sir, are 100% correct.

Don't be sorry, it's not as if you've said anything racist.

ok, so the majority of British people see him as British, so does the media, so does the Prime Minister and Queen who he has both met, it's not like he moved over last month and his whole family are saying he's British!

Ever heard of Manuel Almunia? He's trying to pass himself off as British, or more specifically English, because he's lived here long enough to apply for citizenship. He's the Arsenal Goalkeeper. The way our media carry on they'd treat him as British if he saved the penalty that would win England the World Cup.

This country has gone PC mad. It's not like they're both going to turn around and say '**** off, you're not British', are they? And the Royal Family are notoriously racist, how can you not know that?

His Grandparents moved over I'm guessing in the 60's. They moved over from PAKISTAN.

Look, I've got nothing against the kid, I like his attitude (apart from coming off as some proud Briton), but I just cannot get excited about someone that has no connection to Britain other than it simply being their birthplace.

I don't see why this has anything to do with political correctness.

Because it's 'politically correct' to recognise every Tom, **** & Harry who walks onto this land as British, or just because they're born here. If you say they're not then you're automatically labelled as a member of the NF, a ****, a bigot, a *******, a racist, and so on...

Amir Khan didn't "walk onto this land" though, he was born AND raised here. I'm not saying this for the sake of political correctness, for example I don't consider Al Fayed British, or as you mentioned Almunia. For me nationality is a personal thing, where were you born, where were you raised, what language do you speak etc. To me it is nothing to do with ancestors and relatives.

Lewis is hte weakest case as both his parents are Jamaican citizens and he had Canadian citizenship.
Calzaghe's not english but his mother's Welsh so he's British through being Welsh. The Italian thing is lest important, he can't even speak Italian and never lived in Italy, as he says in his book.

His Grandparents did, so he is a descendant of Pakistanis.
