I would favor Mayweather over Duran because of his durability, hand speed, ring generalship and ability to adjust/adapt to any opponent's style. The key to beating Mayweather is being a volume guy/throwing volume punches. Duran was a pressure fighter but he gave his opponents their room to box and Mayweather would more than likely out class Duran from the outside. Duran will need to be able to take what Mayweather has to dish out and get on the inside and work, which i have never seen a fighter do against Mayweather and succeed while he was at 100%. I see Mayweather being able to pot shot Duran and tie up when in close. Mayweather at lightweight had enough power to keep Duran off.

The southpaw style and elusiveness of Whitaker would give him the edge in the Duran fight. Duran has never beaten an elite southpaw, especially one as good as Pernell. In every fight and all of the big punchers that Whitaker has faced, he has never been stopped or had his will broke and i just can't see Duran winning a decision in this match up. Like Mayweather, Whitaker also had the ability to adjust to his opponents style. although the lack of power for Pernell would worry me. He had decent pop but Roberto would walk through his shots, which would make the fight close.

Skill wise, Meldrick Taylor was better technically sound than Duran was.

Taylor had great handspeed but against Chavez he spent a lot of time on the inside brawling and he didn't have much defense there.

When Taylor was fighting on the outside, he was busting Chavez up but when he fought on the inside, he took brutal punches to the head and the body but managed to outwork Chavez for the most part.

Then Chavez caught him in the final round after piling up the punishment in the earlier rounds.

Duran was a much more skilled inside fighter than Meldrick Taylor was, very hard to hit and he could also counter punch and catch Chavez coming in with his right hand counters.

Chavez' chin would most likely hold up (like it always did) but Duran was at his absolute best against fighters with the style of JCC. I see a decision going Duran's way.

        Chavez vs Taylor
