If B-Hop beats Joe Calzaghe should he be P4P 1?

I was just thinking like, Bernard was the pound for pound top dog until two very close, controversial decision losses to Taylor put him down but since then beat Antonio Tarver who was number 1 at LHW and Winky Wright who was top ten P4P and then if he beat another guy Top P4P guy (Who most rank 2 or 3) would he deserve his old spot back or not. What do you think?

Yes.......Mayweather nor Pac can say they beat fighters of Tarver,Winky and Calzaghes stature consecutively after losing his P4P staus questionalby in the first place......However....Hopkins will not beat Calzaghe so this is a moot point.

I'd put him joint #1 untill we say Mayweather - ODLH. It all depends how it's done though...

He doesn't deserve **** if he head butts his way to victory.

True. Gone are the days were only talent got you a P4P status. these days...being good at cheating gets you there lol

But i like B-Hop, my hate has faded and now i have the up-most respect for him...especially after watching Behin the glory and seeing where he came from. And even though he beat on 'oversized welter'...some of them (IE Tito) were the favourite to win the fight in many peoples eyes.

IMO yes, him beating a top P4P fighter that's undefeated and experienced like Calzaghe should put him in the #1 spot.

Based on just resume he could be number 1. On about everything he'd be number 2 or 3.
He's too old to beat Floyd at this age. He has a chance against Manny if they fought at the same weight.

I'd say Number 2. If you think about it. His last opponents have been; Jermaine Taylor (twice), Antonio Tarver, Winky Wright and now Joe Calzaghe. If he were to beat Calz, he'd have fight ALL p4p guys in his last four fights (Technically, Taylor wasn't p4p when they FIRST matched up. He beat three of them (if you think he lost BOTH Taylor fights, it'd only be three if you include his hypothetical victory over Joe) and ended up 3-1 in the process. (Once again, not counting the first fight because he wasn't technically p4p at the time)

He'd have a tremendous comeback story, great record, great resume and of had the better career then Mayweather, technically speaking. Or atleast in my opinion. HOWEVER, the reason he'd only be number two is that Hopkins doesn't have the upside or the undefeated record that Mayweather has. Mayweather can still TECHNICALLY accomplish more then Hopkins can. And p4p is also about what you can STILL do, not JUST what you have done.

So a lot would ride on the De La Hoya fight. If he lost to De La Hoya, it'd be a common opponent for the two and it'd HAVE to make Hopkins number one, in my opinion. Right now though, he'd be at the 2 spot.
