    tyson question

i say yes, unlike most trainers he experienced the real thing. not all fighters become succesful trainers though, but mike has all the knowledge in the world, having been trained by perhaps the best boxing trainer there ever was. im sure that he has a lot of theories to pass along to other fighters, and could mould another offensive boxer close to what he himself was in his prime. besides tyson was never a slacker in training, he always came in supreme condidtion and would expect the same of his pupil. i dont care what other people say, but i feel that tyson belongs in the top ten list of all time great heavies, if not top 5.

this question came up before, and tyson answered that it would be too much responsibily for him to handle. but maybe if one guy came along, with the right chemistry a connection could be made, and tyson can again be welcomed into the boxing world and establish his greatness as a trainer.

he's not an old man, and down the road he might again find the desire to be involved in boxing again.

He does have great knowledge of the sport, but as he said it's too much responsibility for him. I don't think he could devote himself to training young fighters 24-7.

not even down the road, you dont think mike has completely given up on this sport do you? for me personally i can see him getting involved. he wouldnt make a successful commentator i dont think, definetly not a promoter, i think training is a perfect facility for him. it doesnt have to be any group of fighters(although that is how it's run for most trainers, the higher your stock, the more experience) it could be one guy for tyson, someone that he might like in particular. could be one if his sons perhaps once they grow older and express some interest in the sport.

Never say never, I really doubt it but you never know.

I actually think he'd do good as a commentator, I have a few fights with him doing commentary and found him to be very insightful and pretty good to listen to.

yeah he did well on hopkins rematch with mercado, and few other gigs. id love to see him as a commentator, more so than lennox lewis. but he burned his bridges with HBO, even if he was welcomed back i know that lampley and him wouldnt get along too well, he went through the whole lawsuit with king who deals with showtime on regular basis, so it would be much harder for him to land on any of the top boxing networks. and of course his image doesnt help either. if it was me id hire him tommorow, he'd do well, but he's like tommy hearns, he'd get a little intimidated behind a mic.

I actually think adding Tyson to a broadcast team could help ratings because people would tune in just to see what he has to say and whether he'd do something crazy again, there's always that air of unpredictability with Tyson.

yep, and that's exactly why the networks will never take him on. too bad they dont think in those terms, for them it's a risk vs reward factor. what they need to understand is that tyson would give them a bigger rep, im just waiting for lennox to retire for his announcing duties. how they still keeping that guy there is beyond me. i mean lewis is a great fighter, but he might just be the worst commentator i ever heard. having been a dominant champion gives him those priviliges.

i loved foreman back in the day. eventhough he gave a lotta **** to larry i still loved him. i dont know why they got rid of him. i know roy was fired for not showing up for meetings, and his typical roy jones attitude. i saw an interview with lampley a while back, and when asked if he would miss working with foreman he just gave a blunt no.

Lewis won't retire from his duties, I'm pretty sure he makes good money from the gig and gets ringside seats for the big fights, HBO firing him is the only way he'd stop doing it. I also think they only hired him because people know who Lennox Lewis is.

Foreman wanted to spend time doing other things, the HBO gig was taking too much of his time.

Tyson used to be a Showtime fighter they should hire him to do commentary.
