Ali vs. Foreman was the first I saw. Dad woke me up in the middle of the night.

I used to have 1500 hours of fights pre 1990 on vhs. I lost it all when the cellar flooded 2 years ago.

Since you have been following the sport for this long, what do you think about Boxing now compared to back then?

You have much more access now with the Internet and Cable where you can see fights almost every day on television, plus you can talk boxing and get the late breaking news online. Before boxing was more mainstream especially when Ali won the title where you could read about it in the paper plus they were on the mainstream news.

I personally would much rather have it the way it is now but I would like to get your perspective?

Although the ? wasn't for me, I'll give u my opinion.

It sucks today! Wanna know why? All those alphabet organizations and weight classes prevents boxing from having superstars Joe Average can identify with. Too many champions so a guy wanting to see some good boxing watches a fight for some so-called championship heavily hyped by some tv-network and gets turned-off because he gets to see a mis-match or some mediocre fighters.

But if you know your boxing, you know which fights are good and thats definetely not always for a championship.

The first fight I remember having any interest was the "Thrilla In Manila" in 1975. I was 8 years old. The first fight I really remember watching and retaining the details of was Ray Leonard-Andy Price in 1979

That was surely on Closed Circuit, though, no?

You may be right on that one. ABC had some fights back in the day for sure.
