Mexico's only victory coming from Daniel Ponce Deleon knocking out a rookie fighter who stepped up his competition for the 1st time.
There was only one upset that night it was Penalosa over Jhonny Gonzalez a fight in which Penalosa was being dominated until the body shot that could have put any race of fighter. There was only 2 world title fights for Gonzalez' and De Leon's belts. The rest of the card were showcase fights for GBP Filipino stable of fighters against "opponent" Mexican fighters in a "world cup" promoted by and filled mainly with GBP fighters. That "world cup" was not a very good measuring stick.

Yes i agree with you that it was not a very good measuring stick. Perhaps this will be a better counterargument for Muppetman's blatant hatred. Yes Mexico has many other world Champs. But look at all the world title holders between the 130lb weightclass all the way down to 106. Then look at how many mexican title holders there are...and how many filipino title holders they are. You will find that mexico only has 3 or 4 more world champs than the Philippines. And that's covering 6 weight classes. Then look at who those filipino world champs had to beat to get those titles.

              How In The Hell.....

How Can Marquez Settle To Sign For Getting Paid More Than 5 Million Dollars Less Then Manny. Marquez Needs Golden Boy To Represent Him Better Than That. Now We Come To Find Out There Is Was No Rematch Clause Even Though He Desired It. This To Me Is Unacceptable. Golden Boy Needs To Take Better Care Of His Guys, Dont Let Arum Dictate All The Terms!!!

Simple supply and demand. Manny didnt need a marquez rematch to solidify his legacy. He would have beaten Barrera in07 for the belt and be fighting lightweights already if it wasnt for the lawsuit. Marquez however NEEDED the Pacquiao fight. Both financially and legacywise. 1.6million bucks is still the biggest payday Marquez has ever had regardless. So what leverage does golden boy have to do anything more than what was done already for Marquez??

How about the facts in 2nd fight. The fight was close in can go either way but because of the 2 knockdown Pac clearly won the fight. I actually watched the fight at a bar full of Mexicans and Philipinos and almost half of the Philipinos there (the sober one's) felt that JMM should have one by a point or two.

Just wait until he gets to the lightweights and you'll see just how good Pac is. He may have is speed but all of the top lightweights can punch. Except maybe Juan Diaz but he works you to death. I see Pac getting knocked back down to featherweight just as Most people on this site was whooping and hollering about Ricky Hatton . I've seen all of Pac's fights in the US and he's been rocked by featherweights a lightweight will knock him out for sure.
