Mayweather 'not going to make Cotto big'

Mayweather, 39-0 with 25 knockouts in the boxing ring, stopped England's Ricky Hatton in the 10th round last December to keep his crown but resists the idea to fight rival champions such as undefeated Miguel Cotto, calling him one-dimensional and talking down his promoter, Bob Arum.

'I'm not going to fight those guys and make them big. They fight Floyd Mayweather that makes them big. I'm not going to let no more fighters piggyback on me,' Mayweather said.

'If Oscar de la Hoya wants one more chance to get his ass kicked, we can make it happen. If Ricky Hatton wants one more chance to get his ass kicked, we can make it happen.'

Because Hatton and De La Hoya had no fans before right?

If you are not going to make him big you can atleast make yourself bigger by fighting the best. Stop relying on them and rely on your self then.

Floyd is getting selfish as hell. He is saying how by training Forbes, Roger is losing out on a whole lot of money. That maybe true but maybe Roger wants to train Forbes for his own reasons (like properly preparing him for the fight), other than money.

Floyd claims he wants to fight for the love of the sport, yet he is worrying about "making another fighter big". Poor excuse, because if him and Cotto were to fight, I would think that the fight would be sold out to more Cotto fans. The more Floyd talks, the more he exposes himself for being unwilling to fight Cotto. He would rather fight an older De la hoya, and an underskilled Ricky Hatton.

Floyd knows he's pissin people off by not fightin Cotto. He's milkin the wait to make the fight bigger and milkin the cash by fightin Oscar again. It's acceptable for now, but if he don't fight Cotto after the DLH rematch, he'll lose all credibility. I'd like to see him face Cotto now cuz it won't do him any favors fightin Cotto after he loses to somebody else if he does. He probably woulda had a better chance of beatin him when they both had belts at super lightweight.
