    That was a GOOD STOPPAGE!!!

C'mon guys, Lee was practically out on his feet. He was throwing back, but he was gone. You dont recover from a round like that, where u take a beating for 2 minutes. And there was still about 45 seconds left, he was wobbly, he was gonna get hurt. u have to stop that fight. Wasn't a pleasing stoppage because he did throw back, but he was out of it.

Lee has a ton of heart though. Vera too. And they put on a hell of a show. A freakin war, that was a terrific fight, reminded me a lot of Bika-Codrington.

And, i would like to point out (and u can go back to one of the first LEE-VERA on ESPN2 threads to confirm this) that i predicted this upset here tonight so if one of you guys wants to send over some kind of medal or something...

I agree with you, when a fighter is that hurt, it doesn't matter if he is punching back, I have seen guys that are out cold on the canvas that are still punching.

What matters is if you can defend yourself, and Lee proved that he couldn't by eating that wide looping right hand.

I had no problem with the stoppage but I thought the ref should have stopped it earlier, even my brother was asking me why the ref let that beating go on.

**** it. Lee still has a future so there's no use risking it since it really only takes one punch to end someone's career.

well, im not gonna say it was a GOOD stoppage....... but it was certainly a JUSTIFIED stoppage.

ref was looking to stop the fight the entire round, and he doesnt have the luxury of knowing how much time is left on the clock.

its kinda like Vargas/Mosley I...... the ref was wanting to stop the fight the whole time, and the punch that ended the fight wasnt even anything special. same **** here........

              Justified.

I agree.. I think it should have been stopped a little earlier.. He got pounded and clobbered the whole round. The only thing people are complaining bout is because he threw a punch before getting stopped.. that doesn't mean he wasn't hurt.

On that basis they should've stopped the first Pavlik vs Taylor fight in the 2nd round.

That was NOT a good stoppage even though Lee could've been put out in the next 5 seconds.

Lee was up on the cards, still on his feet, throwing punches back.
He did seem like he was out on his feet but he landed a punch, flush on Vera's chin.

I guess I have a more 'old school' mentality regarding referee stoppages but I don't think the referee did a good job even if Lee and Steward said they are OK with it. It's just not right to stop it like that.

I have a feeling that Brian Vera will be slurring his words in a few weeks.
