In close fights at the top level, where a guy loses by one point or some other close margin, they usually trained very hard for the fight. To say that Marquez trained hard and as a result should have won is to imply that Pacquiao trained less strenuously and is on that merit unworthy of victory.

Marvin Hagler is still bitter about the Ray Leonard decision, as is DLH about the Trinidad fight. In these closely contested fights, as in any other fight, there is a winner and a loser (barring a draw). It's part of pro boxing, otherwise we'd be in the special olympics handing everyone the gold.

That's not what I'm getting at.

I'm saying it's easy for an outsider like a fat sportswriter to say "what a poor loser" when a boxer busts his ass for months, puts his health and life on the line for his occupation, gets punched in the mouth repeatedly, and feels he won a close fight that could have gone either way.

It's not like Marquez attacked Pacquiao physically afterwards, or said Pacquiao was no good, or cried "fix", when we've seen that quite a few times from sore losers after fights.

I don't like Dan Rafael but i agree Team JMM should have been a little more gracious in their criticism of the fight. On a side note, I think Ngoudju should have clearly stated he thought he won the fight. I don't think he needed to raise a major stink but he should have confirmed what many fans were thinking.
