These boxers are kind of like fighting dogs, if there corner wants them to go on then they basically obey orders and carry on with the fight you don't often see a boxer himself flat out refuse to come out for a round its usually a collective decision, but thats also where the tragedies happen as trainers and promoters are sending fighters out for their vested interests, but also you can look at it in the way that it is a high octane adrenaline fueled scenario and sending a fighter out for just one more round is seen as the best thing to do, because if he says hes ok and he looks alright what can you do?

I think for boxing to be a viable commercial sport in the future the safety aspect i going to have to be looked at because watching someone getting a hidung for 12 rounds purely based on the fact hes on his feet doesn't make a good spectacle and in the end will ruin a lot of lives.
What your talking about is gameness , the type thats born not made , these guys like dead game Pitdogs wont quit and its not about being ordered to fight , some men dogs and game****s are born with a rare element that overrides natures survival instinct that we all have , some in abundance ,with beings like these its solely up to the corner to say enough is enough , the corner must make an accurate call when the chance of a lucky punch overrides the beating taken to maybe land it , if Lacy comatosed after the fight his corner would be the root cause .

The way Quintana went down the first time, and more significantly how he crumbled after the 2nd KD without solid punches landing, you could see the ability to defend himself wasn't there anymore.

His corner tried to send him back out, but really, for what? A corner should be able to read their fighter immediately, like Raul Marquez's corner in the Jermain Taylor fight. It was clear to me atleast that Quintana had nothing left and for him to need to verbalize it showed that the corner wasn't putting his best interest forward.
There are some punks that you have to push because they dont have the heart but I agree in this case. I think Quintana's people were only pushing him to go back out because he was doing solid until the 5th round but you could clearly see the momentum wasnt on his side and he probally wouldve got punished after that.

However, something that no one on this thread has talked about is the future. I seriously doubt that Quintana would be a champ right now if he had continued in that fight. I honestly believe that guys can get ruined. If he had continued and takened a massive beating from Cotto then there is no way he wouldve beat Willaims. Refusing to go back in not only saved him in that fight but I honestly believe that it saved his career
