i think that he will have his corner smear some illegal substance on his gloves, i dont believe he has tried that one yet

lol I agree.I don't think even Joe himself envisions anything like that. Whatsoever.
Bika was like a poor man's Hopkins when it came to inside rough tactics and the lead straight rights though he was able to rough Calzaghe up and he landed some of those lead rights as well. He ended up winning, what, 2-3 rounds? I think Hopkins feels he can capitalize of what Bika couldn't do.
yea yea, Calzaghe "wasn't up for the fight" though he was showboating and dominating for the first few rounds until Bika starting roughing him up.Comment

I have to disagree with you about balance. If JC's balance was an issue at all he would have been down more than twice in his entire career. His knockdown against Mitchell wasn't even serious. If I remember correctly he was up by the count of 3 and proceeded to knock the **** out of Mitchell and end the fight in the same round.I say most likely a decision win for Hopkins, he will take around 7-9 of the rounds. It will be hard to KO Calzaghe because he is in tremendous shape, but If Hopkins goes hard to the body he could end things.
And Joe does NOT have superior footwork. He has good footwork but a lot of times is off balance. He looks quick but he's similar to Hatton his feet can get wild and can't really do anything off it. Bernard is of the elite in the game when it comes to foot movement.
There is no way Joe is similar to Hatton. Those guys are a million miles apart, with Joe obviously being the superior boxer all round, including footwork.
Joe will win a UD, unless of course the score cards are twisted. I don't see Hopkins winning this fight. By the way, I am a fan of Hopkins, but I'm trying to be realistic here. Calzaghe is too good for him, simple as that.Comment

I think Bhops best weapon will be his defence , if he can make Joe find it hard to land Joe will be forced to get closer and take it to Bhop , its here Hopkins will be his most dangerous and crafty , if Joe can land easily he can just move and pot shot and fight his fight but if Hops defense is very tight and Joe cant land the whole tempo of the fight will change and Bhop will be right in it ,, I think Joe will win but if Bhop got the win Id have a smile on my dial .Comment

I'm not talking about balance in terms of being susceptible to a knockdown. I was saying that there are times when he is unable to punch effectively, and Bernard will definitely exploit that:I have to disagree with you about balance. Mikkel Kessler was not able to take advantage of Calzaghe, but Bernard will because he has much more experienceLast edited by MikeBrew328; 03-17-2008, 01:33 AM.Comment
