Must everything be about race when it comes to you? Something tells me whenever someone chooses a black fighter over a white one you think it is because they are racist.

Actually, that's not true. But I agree with what Arum said about "demeaning white fighters" because people think they are no good.

When I was about 12, I wanted to take up boxing but my white physical education instructor discouraged me, saying I might defeat the other white guys, but I'd never be able to defeat the black boxers. But I realize looking back on it now, he was an idiot like Teddy Atlas.

Atlas has made many negative comments about the Klitschkos, Pavlik and others. In close fights he always scores it against the white guy.

Vera's not a pushover, but it would be extremely disappointing if Lee lost this one. I have to think his last performance was just a bad night. He looked a little rough around the edges. Hopefully, he comes out strong on Friday. Boxing could use another big time Irish fighter now that Duddy was semi-exposed.

Yes Duddy was semi exposed, but won a lot of new fans also, including myself. He showed incredible heart and class in that fight. His main objective is to make the fans happy. I wish him all the luck in the world.

I don't know, maybe he's gay and has a sexual attraction, or maybe he wants to be black. Hate for one's own race is strange, but is actually not that uncommon. All races have people who hate their own kind.

It occurs among black people too: do a google search, look up Malcolm X November 1963 speech on "The Two Types" (live on national TV) where he talks about self-hating blacks who love whites.

I won't accuse Teddy Atlas of this, I don't agree with Tunney.

But generally speaking it is in fact mainly white people who have an anti-white stereotype concerning athletes. There are many regular posters here -- I won't name them in this thread -- who have this affliction.

Like Tunney says, there are blacks with similar self-hating complications. I once had a black friend tell me he thought he was pretty good-looking "for a black guy."

The self-hating whites are frequently but not only "*****s." When I watched Pavlik-Taylor I some old white guy said "I haven't seen these guys, but the white guy is gonna get his ass kicked." The black bartender agreed. Pavlik knocked Taylor out and I told the bartender if he wanted to meet in the parking lot I'd do the same to him . . . but really the old white guy is the one who deserved it

How is Andy Lee a *****? Please explain.

I see people are expecting Andy to blowout Vera, but I don't see that happening. Lee is typically a fighter who takes a close look at their opponent in the opening rounds and then breaks them down with accurate power shots.
I can't see him having many problems with Vera and getting him out of there mid fight.
