I saw Byrd at 139...losing to Todd Foster in 1988. Tall and skinny, that was ChrisNice read Scully. Its amazing some of the weight classes some guys came from. Hard to imagine Byrd at WW or Hearns at 132lbs. Hey would it be possible for you to post a link to a few of these amateur fights. I would love to Pryor-Hearns.
Also you talk about guys who dont make it for whatever (a million possibilities) reason but of all the talented amateur fighters that you saw who is the fighter you are most surprised that didn't make it or didn't make it as far as you had thought his talent could've taken him?Comment

I watched a bunch of amateurs fights that I found on youtube. The Hearns-Pryor wish it was a 12rounder it was very good, they both appeared to hurt each other a different times.
Would be interesting to see Hearns fighting today and see him against todays jrWW's.Comment

I tried for years to get a rematch... I won the fight, and was the favorite, ETC, BUT I knew that as pros a rematch would be big in our area (ALL of new England) and I tried hard to get it. To this day people talk about that fight with me. But he didnt want it for some reason.
And, yea, Ray was living comfortably LOLComment
