Some prospects to keep an eye out for...

I will make this thread for all the prospects who are not big now, but may end up being major players in boxing one they step up in competition. I think we should update this too for all the new guys that start popping up, so that they can become popular a little bit quicker, so whenever they get a big win or become champions we actually know who they are! Be sure to add some of your own!

Heres a few guys Im keeping an eye out for at the moment...

Eric 'Danger' Fields 11-0-He has only been fighting a short while, but shows a huge amount of natural talent. He became the 2006 National Golden Gloves Champion after only boxing only 18 months! His biggest victory is over former champ Kelvin Davis, who was not in top shape but Fields destroyed him in the 1st round and looked extremely impressive. He reportedly is actually a huge body puncher, something we didnt even get to see in the Davis fight. If he continues to improve at the rate hes going, look for him to be fighting for the Cruiser, or even Heavyweight championship later on.
Fighting 11-0 Ola Afolabi next, who stopped an old Orlin Norris in his last fight

'Vicious' Victor Ortiz 20-1-Only 21 years old, this hard hitting Light Welterweight southpaw already has 21 wins and a long amateur career. In his last fight he knocked out former champ Carlos Maussa, who lasted 9 rounds with Ricky Hatton only two fights before he fought Ortiz. Ortiz knocked him out badly in the first round. Ortiz hasn't been nearly as active this year compared to previous years, but he has a bright future with his young age.

'Mean' Joe Greene 18-0-A rising star in the Middleweight division, he is only 22 years old and seems to have a ton of power in his southpaw stance. He was the 2004 National Golden Gloves Middleweight Champ when he was only about 18. He was recently on the untelevised undercard of Klitschko-Ibragimov, where he used Francisco Mora as a punching bag until the fight was mercifully stopped. Scheduled to fight an unnamed opponent in a month, keep yours eyes out for this guy.

I've seen Ortiz and Davis and have been very impressed by both, I have also heard great things about Greene but had never seen him great post I might have to steal some of your stuff for another site.

but this can be a really great thread.

One for me is Raymond Biggs Jr. He is currently 8-0 (6 KO) and is a good blend of power and technique. He is a little old for a prospect (25) but I think he has a chance to be something special if he continues to improve.

Was on the Haye undercard, stepped up in class and had a war. Arrived being heralded as the Wayne Rooney of boxing (the soccer star who looks like a potato) however he has been put on the backburner since Amir Khan came on the scee.

Has tons of heart, and a classic chin. He will be a real blood and guts fighter. I think he is better than his showing against Johanneson when he got dragged into a war. Good power. He needs to not be so emotional when he fights though. If he fights with a clear head I think he'll be a champ.

At the very least he'll be a very entertaining fighter, who will be involved in epics.

James Kirkland 21-0-A 23 year old southpaw from Texas, this Light Middleweight claims that he tries to model himself after Marvin Hagler. He already has 21 wins, 18 by knockout, and has an amateur record of 134-12. He is very fun to watch, and is very quick. His jab seems to be very effective, he really gets a lot of power behind it. His last fight, against Allen Conyers, he was knocked down in the first round by a big punch, but came back to knock out Conyers in the same round! A problem with Kirkland is that his defence is a bit leaky, and he seems to be a bit too wild at times. When he actually settles down and picks his shots, he can land very effectively. There is a lot of potential here. In his next fight, he might be fighting Eromosele Albert...which is a big test, and may be too early in his career. A lot of people may not have seen Albert yet, but he has been on FNFs a few times, and has wins over David Banks, Luis Ramon Campas, and a stoppage win over a faded Daniel Edouard. Albert is a workhouse and throws a lot of punches, and is a very, very big test for Kirkland, even if Albert is somewhat unknown. Kirkland is already rated #6 by the IBF, look out for him in the future

He was on the Pavlik vs Taylor rematch undercard and was very impressive. He showed maturity beyond his years and scored a very nice TKO. I will be following him closely over the next few years.

My other main prospect is Andy Lee. He has so many things going for him. I think 2008 will be a very big year for him.
