Ali's defense basically consisted on staying out of his oppenent's range and not really slipping punches, Tyson closed the gap very well. Not sure who would have won, but going 12 or 15 without Tyson landing some clean hard leather I dont think would happen. Still I can also see Ali, confusing the heck out of Tyson, because Ali could dance around the ring and jab all day long, would have been fun to watch these two.
supervisor at work claims Tyson would smash Ali if both were in their primes

I would pay anything to watch this two fight in any era at there prime, The thing is Tyson would land but at Tyson's prime i dont think he can go 15 rounds with a smart Fighter like ali who can stay at of range , The ali that fought Frazier wasnt a prime ali but he still gave Frazier too much problems and even if tyson close the gap and land on ali i doubt he would have KO'ed ali just like that.Comment

Big deal.
Ali was a sucker for a left hook. He was nearly KO'd by the left hook of 185 lb. Henry Cooper and dropped by the 190 lb. Sonny Banks. He broke a ton of fundamental rules and got away with it against guys who didn't have the speed and power of Tyson, who had every punch in the book, along with great finishing skills. 195 lb. Karl Mildenberger doubled him over with a bodyshot, and Karl is no Mike with bodyshots. Chuvalo hurt him to the body too. Ali faced two guys around the same weight as a prime Tyson (215-218) during his first reign and 4 guys at or below 200. Tyson was used to facing taller guys who were heavier than a prime 210 lb. Ali.
Okay, I don't actually believe Tyson beats Ali, I'm just playing the devil's advocate.
Tyson is an underdog. A live one, but an underdog nonetheless.Comment
