It will only mean Kessler isn't the same type of fighter as Pavlik. Mikkel is a very good puncher boxer and has great footwork where he can get out of the way of a punch.

Pavlik stood and traded with Miranda which took a lot of guts but he also got tagged a lot. Kessler is more of a safety first boxer so I'd expect him to KO him late or win a UD. Another thing is Miranda is probably a lot more comfortable at this weight and will have more energy.

I'd be a bit disappointed if he doesn't KO Miranda.

Kessler can punch and Miranda leaves lots of opening to counter. If he can't atleast hurt/drop Miranda, it'd mean that he doesn't punch as hard as I think he does.

Kessler does not seem to be a very good finisher, unlike Pavlik. That's why I would not be surprised if he does not KO Miranda.

Styles make fights. Pavlik vs. Miranda was basically a slugger vs. slugger so it had to come down to who could take it as well as dish it out.

Kessler vs. Miranda is a completely different fight. Its the classical boxer vs. slugger. However I don't think the fight will go much longer than the Pavlik fight. I think Kessler is gonna counterpunch Pantera and pepper him with straight shots while giving him difficult angels to work with. I like Kessler by KO in the middle rounds but there could be a little scare on the way.

Most of Kessler's KO wins come from well-timed counter punches that put the opponent down for the full 10 count.
He isn't a pressure fighter and a finisher like Pavlik who goes for the KO, Kessler just waits for the moment to come (if it does).

I wouldn't be surprised if Kessler doesn't KO Miranda because of this but it would certainly make a statement if he did and I think he will do it because Miranda is quite easy to hit.

But I do think it will go longer than Pavlik vs Miranda, just not the full distance unless Miranda has a chin like Andrade.

Lets say for a second Miranda KO's Kessler. Does this drop his stock and at the same time, drop Calzaghe's stock? Or is Miranda all of a sudden just really good?

Miranda was severely weight drained for the pavlik fight and will probably take a much better shot now he is not killing himself to make weight. Plus the fact that Kessler doesnt always look for a knockout and this fight may go the distance.

I still see Kessler winning a wide decision though!

will it be a 10 or 12 rounder?

i personally dont think it makes a difference of who is better than who if two fighters fight the same guy and one wins by decision the other by KO...

I do it myself sometimes; (base who could beat who or who is better than who by way of who beat the same opponent better) but at the end of the day it doesnt matter.

if Kessler were to score a UD it doesnt mean that he's weak or not a good fighter...

theres many things to account for.

                    A) what type of fight did he fight (was he going for a knockout or was he being cautious)

                    B) what about the opponent (miranda) did he improve at all?

plus many more...but you can only say who is better if pavlik fights kessler really...
