After Joe Calzaghe beats Hopkins, what will the haters excuses be?

he won't fight roy he'll most likely go out with a **** and fight a top fighter like pavlik.

There arent any top fighters for him to fight, Pavlik is staying at 160. The only people out there for him are Jones and the winners of the two title fights on april 12th. They are all old except Chad Dawson, who probably isnt that much of a name yet and people will say was overrated if Joe beats him. Warren matchmaking has already cost Joe, he will never get the credit he really deserved and he cant really do much to silence the haters.

Joe skill-wise is a contender for p4p#1, but he could use a few more big fights to get the record to back that up. I think Hopkins is a good choice considering he beat someone who a lot of people view as a p4p fighter in Winky Wright last fight.

No, but the ppl picking hopkins to win shouldn't have any excuses if calzaghe beats hopkins. If they feel that hopkins will lose because of his age, then they should say now instead of saying hopkins will win the fight. They shouldn't have to wait after the fight is over to make excuses on why the guy they picked to win lost.

Anyone that watches boxing knows Hop is old and nowhere near the same fighter he was. That's not an excuse, that's a fact. Good thread..

whats funny or ironic about both of their styles is that Calzaghe has the style to make almost anyone look old... and Hopkins has the style to make any1 look real bad... so I don't think there should be any excuses for both because they have complicated styles...and to me those 2 styles will create an ugly collision in the ring, but should be real interesting.... they both may not be in primes but only thing that would change is it'll be a slower tempo now than before obviously...thats all..

with that said on April 19 I expect The Executioner to somehow pull it off....because if Calzaghe wins, he wins....but if Bernard beats Joe, its more of him pulling it off.....u never know what to expect vs. hopkins, with Joe its all about how one can handle his activity output..

Hopkins at 43 is much slower the he was 4-5 years ago, and not close to what he was when he fought Johnson for exampel.

But just because he still fight very good and wins doesnt means that he is in his prime. Joe will probably win this fight, even if my heart say Hopkins.

No !! Hopkins is not totaly shot or so, but he is not what he was and thats just a fact. However in my opinion in his prime i think he would beat Joe but not now.

Well I cant speak for the other people... but I think joe put himself in a predicament.... if bernard beats you... a 43 yr old beat you... if joe beats bernard... he beat a 43 yr old boxer... and those arent excuses those are actual facts...
