What will all the haters say? All these ppl are picking hopkins to win, after Calzaghe beats hopkins are all those same haters going to say that he only beat hopkins because hopkins is old? I bet you they will even though they're there same users picking hopkins to get the upset.

Fair enough, it's only taking him 44 fights to get into the ring with someone with credentials.

Bernard being old really isnt an excuse... its a pretty valid reason.

No, but the ppl picking hopkins to win shouldn't have any excuses if calzaghe beats hopkins. If they feel that hopkins will lose because of his age, then they should say now instead of saying hopkins will win the fight. They shouldn't have to wait after the fight is over to make excuses on why the guy they picked to win lost.

I for one kinda hope joe wins... cuz i want him to fight roy.

This is where you are wrong. If people think that a fighter is overrated and garbage then they can pick the past his prime fighter to beat him.

Hopkins being too old isn't an excuse, it's a fact. Does Calzaghe deserve credit for beating a 44 year old fighter who was much better 4 years ago then he is now? Well Joe will move up in the P4P ranking one way or the other, isn't that giving him credit?

its gonna be "wow, he beat old ass hopkins whos way past his prime" and if he loses we'll hear "he sucks, he lost to old hopkins whos way past his prime" its a lose-lose situation for calzaghe.

Joe skill-wise is a contender for p4p#1, but he could use a few more big fights to get the record to back that up. I think Hopkins is a good choice considering he beat someone who a lot of people view as a p4p fighter in Winky Wright last fight.

Won't happen, he won't fight roy he'll most likely go out with a **** and fight a top fighter like pavlik. I think I read an article that even said calzaghe would even go down in weight to fight pavlik, thats how bad he probably wants to go out with a ****. And then calzaghes resume would be complete with alot of good fighters. Lacy, Eubank, Hopkins, Kessler, and Pavlik.

Other then getting a career high payday, I'd say you're right. But isn't this what all top fighters have to go through? This is the same type of scrutiny that Floyd has been going through for the last few years.

Is it fair? No, but that's life.
