Then am going bk boxing, the doctors wont give me a straight answer as they never do cos they dont like to commit to anything! any ifo on fighters or ayourselfs or friends who have been through this or something simlar would be a great help. thanks guys

ya i have a thing called a "mandibular prognathism"

its just like an underbite, but my lower jaw sticks out so it looks like i have a big chin from the side.

It brought down my self-esteem a lot. and i will go through surgery once i'm 21.

I'm thinking just liek you bro, exept mine is the total opposite, i'm worried if i go through the surgery my chin would not be able to take a punch.

Either way, i know jaw surgery gives drastic results. About the part if your jaw is stronger? I dunno man.

Btw how did it feel like when u got up after the 1st day of surgery. Must be pretty ****in painful. How much did it cost ? Did your insurance cover it?

What i'm trying to say is that maybe your chin will be stronger , it really depends, **** what the doctors say, they always think of your "best" interest. Trust me once your jaw is fully healed, get back in the gym.

I crashed on a motorcycle one year ago, broke two of the bones right behind the knuckles on my left hand.

I have 4 titanium screws in there now. And permanently as well.
The bones are said to be stronger now, and the screws are made of titanium, so they exceed any bone in the strength department.
It took some months before I could start to stress the hand, but now it's all good.

I think you'll be just fine. If not stronger, at least as strong as normal.

I don't think being able to take a punch has anything to do with your bones in your chin. It's a nerve that get's hit and causes you to get ko'd. It's one of those things you either have or don't have.

I had it done a month ago i couldnt eat solids for 2 weeks, was in the hospital 2 days. It has changed my life i feel and think like a different person now! just dont tel the doctors you box, tel them after surgey thats what i did. Good luck mate

So did they break your jaw? and put it back into place with like a headgear?

Ya i get picked on, because of my jaw also. How old are you when you got it?

In britain everybody pays National insurance & tax from their wage so it is not exactly free.
And for those who never have treatments or go to the doctors...in effect pay for those that do.
I'd say the amount the average Brit pays into the system far outweighs what they get out of it.

I was 22, and i didnt want to know how they break it, just left that part to the surgens. I tuck up boxing to cope with it, but it was just as bad in the gym as it was in school. so i just use to try and bklank it out and get on with my life. but i am made up i got it the oparation it was worth the pain and the years of waiting it has changed my life.
