Hagler hit like a ****in man possessed. I haven't seen a Middleweight hit with such power since him. He was the quintessential brawler who actually could box too. I think he'd be too much for Pavlik and probably would run through Pav's punches.

Hagler could beat any middleweight ever, even Roy Jones.

Proof.
Hagler did face some 6'0-6'1 boxers but Pavlik would be the biggest.I mean Pavlik would be the biggest guy Hagler ever faced by far, so I think he can go the distance. Hagler had good power, he wasnt Superman. Pavlik has proven he can take a punch.
I'm not sure if Pavlik could go 15 rounds but possibly 12.
Hagler did beat some extremely tough guys into quitting over 15 rounds.
He was also good at cutting people up.Last edited by TheGreatA; 03-10-2008, 12:03 PM.Comment

Hagler was more like a terrific boxer-puncher who could brawl too.
After Hagler, Jackson and G-Man were harder punchers @ 160.
I would pick Hagler, but not with as much confidence as the others. Not because he isn't the much better, more-skilled, well-rounded fighter, but because he's smaller.
Hagler was a middleweight back in the days of different weigh-in rules. Pavlik back under the old rules would be a light heavyweight or super middle (let
s say it was around in the late 70s/early 80s). You can never be too sure on how effective a guy is when he's fighting bigger opponents or moving up in weight.
In Hagler's favor however, he wasn't a guy that just relied on strength, aggression, pressure, and the sort of style where moving up in weight would take away his best assets.
So I'd pick Hagler to outbox Pavlik and break him down and either stop him late or win a decision. Pavlik is rather predictable, while Hagler used his legs better, had a better variety of shots coming from different angles, and an even better jab.Comment
