The linear champion Joel Casamayor doesn't even deserve that honor after witnessing his November 10th fight against Santa Cruz. Casamayor is old and will surely by the looks of it not be as good no more. Juan Diaz was beaten by an older fighter in a fight in which he was supposed to win. Diaz was pretty much was keeping the division running as he was the top dog but not anymore. David Diaz is simply not that good, he struggled against an old Morales that was KOed in his fight prior by a 135 pounder in 3 rounds. His win against Santa Cruz was out of pure luck, in a fight where Santa Cruz was pretty much dominating. Jose Santa Cruz is probably the best fighter in the division in my opinion, but theres always something that keeps blocking him from ascending to the top of the division. His fight against David Diaz he was KOed after having dominated the action, when he showcased his true talent and schooled the linear champion Casamayor in a one sided bout he was brutally robbed. Nate Campbell is an old fighter which probably wont fight for very long. Dont get me wrong he is a great fighter and he proved it against Juan Diaz but that seems like that as far as he will get. I dont see him beating anyone else in the division decisevely. Michael Katsidis is the Arturo Gatti of this age, and we will have to see how far he gets with that wild brawling style. He will get his biggest break when he meets Casamayor which he will probably beat because of Casamayor degrading talent. Katsidis was busted up by an unknown Czar Amonsot and had troubles with Graham Earl who was KOed in one round by Amir Khan. And then theres fighters like Amir Khan and Anthony Peterson. Chances are these two will probably prove nothing in the division but only using it as pit stop for their future careers at 140lbs or 147lbs. Too me this division isn't really as interesting as everyone thought. Thats just me, what do you think about it?
The Lightweight division is pretty much ****, anyone agree?

I agree if Juan Diaz would of won it would tremendously help out the division since for thye past year or so he was carrying the division on his back. But in terms of Campebell winning I dont see it really helping the division, kinda of when Foreman beat a younger Moorer. Hopefully a rematch reedems that.Comment

A Diaz-Campbell rematch is a fight that should really be made, if Juan Diaz wins were in for it again if Campbbell wins we as the fans are ****ed. No offense to Campbell but he doesnt have much to offer to the division at 36.Comment

the LW division is traditionally a very strong division with deep talent pools (similar to the WW division) so by its own standards it is a bit down but it is reloading and in a bit of a transition the last year or so.
Look at the guys who have recenlty left the division.....Corrales, Castillo, Frietas, Casamayor is nearly shot after being a force for many years, I think it will be up again in a couple of years.Comment

that is why pacquiao is going there to make it look good for the people. that's what champions and real boxers do. they do something to make the sport look better rather than throwning money like an immature **** saying "i make it rain" those living thing shouldn't be recognizedComment
