First Match up for Haye at Heavyweight?

Haye is the real deal you know if he did get KO'd he'd dust himself and send the next guy into the cheap seats. No excuses from him.

It seems people are just used to fighters dodging and weaving through opponents.
That is where Haye is different.
He doesn't want to pad his record out...he wants the guts & glory win or lose.

There was talk of him fighting Rahman, they could still make it happen. Maybe he should fight Maskaev if Maskaev doesn't want to hang them up.

Not a bad idea from a certain perspective, Maskaev could get one more payday (at the cost of likely being KOed again) while Haye is allowed to test the waters. Honestly I could see this happening, for good or ill.

Just want to find out what peoples thoughts are for Hayes first match up at Heavyweight?
Should he fight some random European?
Or a well known veteran?
Or should he jump straight into the fire and fight a title holder?
As the WBC WBA & WBO champ at Cruiser I am sure it could be arranged to meet any of these title holders at HW.

What say you?

a monte barret or zuri lawrence would be smart. they need to move him slowly so he can get acclimated

Rahman or ruiz would be a good first fight.

He was due to fight Rahman before the Maccarinelli bout.

Id love to see him in with Chagaev or Peter Haye would do a job on either.

In fact he is quoted as saying if Wlad offered him the fight as his next bout he would take it.

if he knows wlad wont take it.. it's a fine soundbite for a bit of publicity.. no i dont think haye is 'scared' of wlad but i doubt very much he wants that as his first fight.

im definitely against him fighting ruiz.. he wants to test himself against a genuine heavy

and please dont give him credit for beating tomasz bonin, itd be like crediting steve cunnigham or johnathon banks for moving up to heavyweight and beating JD chapman. bonins fight previous to haye, his 36th, was against someone making his career debut, and his fight after haye was against someone with a record of 1-27. bonins resume may be the most padded in all of boxing at the moment.

I stated a good while ago that Haye would probably end up meeting Solis at Heavyweight.
He already avenged his loss to Fragomeni as an amateur and I think a bout with Solis will be on Haye's wish list.
However at such an early stage in their careers at Heavyweight as potential prospects I am sure both their promoters will want to keep this match marked for the future when they are both better established...as long of course as they can establish themselves.
Solis was lucky that he got the standing 8 in the amateurs as well cos if it had been a pro match Haye would have followed up and finished him.
And Solis hardly "Kicked his ass" as you put it...with that kind of remark I suggest you go and actually watch the fight which can be found on Youtube.
Haye is a completely different article to that green kid back then as well.
Also I don't doubt that Bonin is anything but a protected fighter but you can use him as a bit of a measuring stick with regards to his fight with Fraudley who had a better amateur career than Haye and has fought better Hw's than Haye albeit mostly mediocre.
You see fraudley took 9 rounds to dispatch of Bonin and even then it was a dubious stoppage whereas Haye destroyed Bonin like a true Prospect should within a round and never even broke sweat!
Anyway time will obviously tell with David Haye once he starts fighting up at Heavy but from what I have seen in my own personal opinion he has definitely got the tools to go all the way.
And even if he falls at least we know the guy will undoubtedly be in exciting fights rather than Dull hugfests with lumbering oafs.

I reckon they will rekindle the rahman affair.... which I think is a really good choice from Hayes perspective..

Getting in there with in of the klit brothers this early would be suicidal he needs to adjust probably to HW as much as he looked good against Enzo he is not super human...

Peters is the easiest choice of the champs but the Haye team are looking at it from a different angle I think there'd perfer to wait until the titles get unified and then take on the unified champ, haye as already been stated that he doesn't want to fight past his 31st (yeah i know!) so thats 2 and a half years i'd say 2 - 3 fights dependent on results then aim for one of the champs or if its been unified by that stage "the" champ...
