Does America Want David Haye?

Haye destroyed Tomasz Bonin a ranked heavyweight inside a round. His power at HW is devastating just like it is at cruiserweight. The only problem for him against the likes of Wlad is his own suspect chin although its not as bad as people make out. Haye can still take a few fairly decent shots and at HW will have the extra speed and lateral movement to avoid big shots anyway.Comment

His appeal as a handsome Boxer athlete will have virtually no impact on the already existing fanbase as a Brit. Haye could bring some women into the fold a la De La Hoya on the flipside, if he's promoted correctly. He does that and the guys/"people" will start to pay attention and bring the thing full circle. It may sound weird but dudes are gay..
I think Haye could be the ideal villain. Remember how long Americans perceived Lennox Lewis as an arrogant, pompous guy simply because of his accent. Well, he was arrogant too.
Haye has similar qualities and at least he would be in exciting fights.
Let's just hope as soon as he gets with the heavy thunder, he doesn't employ the John Ruiz tactics after Tua decimated him so many years ago.
My worry is that he shows chinniness, and they handle him like they did with Audley Harrison, and he fights minor guys forever only to be beaten when stepping up.Comment

He's had a little over 20 fights so far and has so far taken pretty much all of the best fights available to him. He's resisted Frank Warren's promotion appeal so far, thus I dont worry that he'll go the Audley Harrison route.Comment

See, this is where I get a little confused...what tools? As far as I can tell all that anyone has in the HW division is power and weight/height. I see very few top heavyweights with good skills (Chagaev and Wlad being the exceptions), and many in that division seem to have awfully glass chins and not especially great conditioning. I'd give Haye a punchers chance against everyone and more than that against all but the top 5 maybe. With that said, he's got a lot to prove about his own chin and conditioning. Really, he's made for the heavyweight division, he'll slot right in, but for the fact that he has more potential and more marketability than almost anyone in there.
I'm sorry man.. but the heavyweights I think have too much for him.. just too much.
I really like Haye though.. Like him alot. his talking i like... His speed I love... His style I love.. his power is great.
He's just not strong enough to rock with them though.Comment
