Tom Watson - I'm sorry after watching this guy I lost complete respect for MMA!

And gained even more respect for our sport then I already had! This dude is a boxer.. Boxed all his life and the only ground game training he's had was in the last year yet he comes in to the Cage Rage Elite XC and knocks Pierre the **** out with a kick in the face while on his back to win a TKO in the first round... ugh.. So your telling me there is no ****ing way a elite Boxer can't compete in MMA? This dude who I never even heard of with little to no MMA background knocks the **** out of this other dude but our best can't compete in the sport? MMA is a ****ing JOKE sorry..
That right there only shows that boxers can compete in the sport and that you don't have to be that skilled to be a mixed martial artist.. especially when you have dudes like Kimbo and this guy competing and knocking mother****ers out!

BOXING: BEST COMBAT SPORT OUT THERE!

The upkicks are easily defended if you are an experienced ground fighter but the guy Tom Watson was fighting is mainly known for being sloppy striker and has lost 3 in a row. He was a can.

This is like putting Kimbo against Butterbean and saying, look, Kimbo beat Butterbean, this means all MMA fighters would easily beat boxers.

Boxers can compete in MMA like Jeremy Williams (he has a judo background) proved but they need knowledge on takedowns and ground game. Someone like Kermit Cintron with a wrestling base would succeed.

If you make Mayweather fight in MMA right now, he won't beat the top guys but if you make him work on his takedown defense for a year or two, he could be a top guy.

CroCop, a successful kickboxer, succeeded in MMA after learning takedown defense but he still can't beat the most well-rounded fighters out there.
But his superior striking and takedown defense allows him to beat many lesser strikers.

Tom Watson isn't exactley creme of the crop as well. so the Kimbo v. Butterbean analogy isn't a good one..

No it's a great comparison. Kimbo, Butterbean, Watson and Pierre are all cans. If you think Kimbo is a successful MMA fighter, you are wrong.
He is nothing and he will lose the first time he faces a wrestler unless he learns takedown defense and the ground game.

You put Georges St. Pierre against Kelly Pavlik with MMA rules and we will see what happens. Roy Jones against Anderson Silva in a MMA match.

Same thing would happen if you put St. Pierre vs Pavlik in boxing.

Different f***ing sports. You can be successful in MMA with a boxing base but you cannot depend entirely on it. You need to work on the other sides of MMA as well.

Yeah, I understand that but many people claim, especially most of my friends that watch the sport, that boxers wouldnt be able to make the transition even with some training in MMA because all boxers know how to do is strike. They act like it's not human nature to try and get out of a clinch when someone holds you like if they were to just sit there and let it happen because they never fought on the ground before or that they are completely lost in fighting once you take the gloves off.

Anderson Silva said in a recent interview that he wanted to fight Roy Jones jr in a boxing match in the near future. The funny thing is that a lot of MMA fanboys actually think Anderson Silva would beat RJJ. A lot of the comments were just outrageous.

Even the dude who beat Ken Shamrock today.. all he really did was box. He did a poor job of it and I know Shamrock is like 40 something but still.. no ground game, no kicks, straight up jabbing his way in then letting of some hooks and ****. I dunno who Anderson Silva is but I say bring it on! lol

Anderson Silva is probably P4P the best MMA fighter right. He's a great fighter but there's no way he'd beat RJJ or any other worldclass boxer in a boxing match.
