No one was calling for Mayweather-Cotto instead of Ricky Hatton until a month before the fight. Before November, Miguel Cotto was that guy who held a belt, beating some guy named Quintana (who hadn't beaten Williams yet) and beat Judah (which Floyd had already beaten). After Cotto beat Mosley, people started to figure out that Cotto had set himself apart from everyone started to want to see Mayweather-Cotto. But be fair, if Floyd had fought Cotto before he beat Mosley, there would have been cries of ducking Ricky Hatton, because he called him out, and he has the "perfect style" to beat Mayweather.

Say what you want now, but Cotto was not on the radar before he beat Mosley.

the overall point im trying to make is he should clean out his division(which he can do) and stop leaving fans with a bad taste in their mouth. ive said it before "this is the reason why joe calzghe has no problem saying hes the best in the supermiddleweight division"this is because he accepts all
challengers and doesnt shy away from mandatorys because they dont bring money. hes giving others a shot to come up just as he was given one but every now and then he takes a big fight with a big name such as jeff lacy(at the time was considered mini tyson), peter manfredo jr (know he sucks ass but was some what famous at the time), and mikkel kessler(no brainer).

joe calzaghe has beaten everybody in the supermiddleweight division from
big superstars to fringe mandatorys so no one can complain and say he didnt fight every body his division has to offer because he basically did.

and what if genaro hernandez never gave mayweather a shot because he didnt earn it and he did not bring enough money we probably wouldnt have the mayweather we had today

he basically spits in the face of boxing fans because he doesnt take fights boxing fans want he takes the fights hollywood wants and i know "if it doesnt make dollars it doesnt make sense" but we are his base and we provide a chunk of those ppv buys so he should take care of us first and holly wood second

Fair enough. I think that is a more than respectable opinion to have. I was just merely correcting you that the Cotto fight only became the main priority after he beat Mosley, which was months after the Hatton fight got signed.

If you would have subbed the Oscar rematch in for the Hatton fight, I wouldn't have said a word.
