Louis could put punches together very well on the inside but he wasn't an infighter.

Rocky Marciano (Marciano's wide, powerful punches needed distance though),
          Jack Dempsey,
Liston could brawl just as well on the inside as he could jab on the outside.

The epitome of an inside fight Quarry vs Frazier I:

i dont rate Tyson that much as an inside fighter ,he had power at close quarters no doubt & he was quick but i did'nt think he could exchange punches inside the way Holyfield could punch for punch ,mind u that might have something to do with the fact that his oponents were either Holding him to death or they were flat on thier back

i think i heard a rumour that Mike atcually did'nt like fighting on the inside

Really? He did some of his best work on the inside, he used to to like explode with combinations to get inside and then throw hooks and uppercuts there, he had this one combination where he threw a right hook to the body then a right uppercut to the head, knocked a few guys out with that combo.

It probably has to do with those things, Bonecrusher Smith was holding on for dear life once Tyson got inside.

young tyson...he hit about twice as hard, and a third quicker than holyfield on the inside though and that's what makes him special in my book.

I think he woulda beaten evander had they fought when mike was young...oh yeah holyfield was still roiding his way to heavyweight back then.
