It probably has to do with those things, Bonecrusher Smith was holding on for dear life once Tyson got inside.
yeah right to the body right uppercut Bruno /Ferguson

I think Tyson was effective inside because he was powerfull i dont think he would have looked very good on the inside with less pop lets say like an Evander Holyfield or if he were taller like Rid**** Bowe

i might be being a bit picky there but

I think a pre-Douglas Tyson would have beaten Holyfield, he was lured into exchanges on the inside and sometimes it worked against him.

Tyson was way more explosive then than when he actually fought Holyfield in 96, I mean if Holyfield had such a hard time against Dokes, I think Tyson would've beaten him.

Holyfield gained more Ring Savy as he got older though he was less content to slug away & give his oponents more of a chance at beating him [Bowe 1 ,Dokes ,Cooper etc ] ,Holfield post Bowe 3 would have beaten Mike Tyson any day of the week any verison of Mike IMO, he knew the special ingredient to beat Tyson Tie Mike up walk him back & hit him with combinations on the way in ,Holyfield was hard to dicourage Mike was easy to discourage by comparison even in his prime

Holyfield made Bowe Look like the best Heavyweight in History by walking straight to him & exchanging with the bigger stronger ,younger ,taller man ,u saw a different Holyfeild once he realised he was not best served slugging away

Tyson wasn't really an inside fighter contrary to popular belief. Mid-range was his best. On the inside he usually clinched or the opponent clinched and he was then pushed around often on the inside. Some of his fights he had good inside work but the competition wasn't good enough to offer much resistance to him anyway.
I'll agree with TheManchine for his picks.

i just think if u were to look at what u need to beat Mike Tyson , Evander had all those ingredients a good enough chin to stay in the fight & enough Heart not to get discouraged by Mikes Hard punches & a determination to win and a good enough Boxing brain to identify the best way to Discourage and Frustrate Mike and take away his best weapon Fear

Toney was Great Inside from what ive seen & Id have to say that i think he would have handled Holyfield on his best day ,Toney was good inside cause he would make u look bad on the inside by slipping and countering ,effectively he would take away your best weapon
