what option is that? it doesnt say that..it says .."those are facts"..

if you are denying that those are facts then you are just plain ignorant or delusional.

As long as posters such as yourself keep denying that Floyd ducked Margarito, and is currently ducking Cotto, then i guess these type of discussions will go on for a loooong time.

I have to admit here's another fact:

Floyd said he was waiting for Margarito to become a bigger name- that as of when Antonio was calling Floyd out, he wasn't popular enough. While Floyd exploded into a mainstream celebrity by fighting De la Hoya and then Hatton; Margarito lost to a green Williams who then got slapped by a guy who Cotto made his *****. That doesn't look good - so when Floyd said, "Margarito...you aren't ready yet..." He was right. Not only was Antonio not ready for Floyd- he didn't offer enough cash to make it worth it; and just enough risk to make Mayweather decide against it.

Now, about the Cotto thing- I don't feel like Floyd is ducking Cotto. Not yet. He's pretty close I suppose but a fight with Oscar throws money into his bank account while giving Cotto time to get even MORE momentum. Can that be bad for an eventual Mayweather-Cotto showdown? No. Can it be bad for boxing if the fight happens and is even bigger? No.

As to the point of this thread; Mayweather not fighting any top level welterweights- I'll be honest. I like Floyd but I'm not saying he's the best Welterweight out there. Every time he steps into the ring against a natural 147 pound fighter he's the little guy; which is a disadvantage. He's a pound for pound fighter using his skill to overcome the size disadvantage, but he's still a smaller man. What I mean to say is; Floyd very well might be the best fighter in the sport and yet NOT the best welterweight. I'd be fine admitting Cotto is a better welterweight, should it be so, but seeing Floyd as the better boxer overall- should he dominate another division or some such.

Floyd was offered more to fight Marg then he wouldve made fighting Sharmba and Judah..he chose Sharmba then Judah..

MARGARITO was the # 1 ranked welter..Floyd was campaining at welter.

he has ONLY stepped in the ring at 147 against one guy bigger then him (by weight) and that was Baldo.. Sharmba and Judah arent bigger then Floyd and neither is HATTON. Cotto certainly isnt..

your post was a bunch of EXCUSES.. just like the ones Floyd made at the time and is making now against Cotto. vote or go home

Chill the **** out man. It isn't that black and white. Floyd did himself a world of good fighting Oscar and Hatton- those were good choices. The Margarito crap is a moot point. Antonio was limited, tons of us called it, and he lost against Williams- in many minds launching him away from being elite at 147. Floyd may or may not fight Cotto; I don't know. My point was that I'm not making excuses for him; I'm saying I don't know that Floyd is even the best Welterweight out there- so when he swims in the waters of 147 he is trying to be careful.

                    FOOL.

the Margarito crap isnt a MOOT point. He was the # 1 welter weight for years.. and he didht get his JUST DUE cuz pretty boy wanted Sharmba, Judah and old man Baldo...easier fight for less money (aside from Baldo 8 mil and 1 ..ooh).. ITS not a MOOT POINT..

sO WHAT margarito lost to Williams, THATS WHAT HAPPENS when you dont cherry pick..THIS IS A SPORT.he was his mando, priime ranked and undefeated..(LETS SEE FLOYD FIGHT SOMEONE LIKE THAT AT WELTER....ahem Cotto)..

ITS NOT A MOOT POINT CAUSE THIS SHOWS A PATTERN by your beloved FMJ who is NOW YET AGAIN MAKING excuses not to fight the CURRENT # 1 contender MIGUEL COTTO..

Responding to the above bold. What if by some reason, Floyd loses to Oscar, and/or Cotto loses to the winner of Marg/Cintron. Remember, in this sport, anything can happen. How big will this matchup be then? Right now, both are undefeated. Both are at the top of thier division. Both are prime. Thier contrasting styles will make for a great fight. The time is NOW. Not next year, not in 2010, but sometime THIS year.
