WBA orders Chagaev-Valuev Rematch...

WBA orders Chagaev-Valuev II!
The WBA World Championships Committee has ordered negotiations to commence between the camps of WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev and mandatory challenger Nicolay Valuev. Universum Box-Promotion, promoter of Chagaev, had requested a special permit for Chagaev to box in an optional defense against Luan Krasniqui in Germany on April 26, however the committee denied that petition and called for an immediate 30 day negotiation period for Chagaev-Valuev. If no agreement is reached between Universum and Sauerland Event (promoter of Valuev) by April 3rd, or if either camp expresses unwillingness to negotiate, an immediate purse bid will be called. Chagaev won the WBA title with a unanimous decison over the seven-foot Valuev in April 2007. Valuev dominated Sergei Liakovich on February 16th to become Chagaev's mandatory challenger.
