I agree with this but taking this fight could also turn out to be a bad decision. Not that I think Calzaghe will lose but he won't look good in winning, Hopkins will make sure of that.

If Joe looks bad against a 43 year old man, the Americans will think of him as a joke. Same happened to Wladimir Klitschko against Ibragimov.
They will boo him out of the building and this could be Calzaghe's last fight. Not a very good way to go out of boxing.

Be prepared to see posts like 'Hopkins wus rob'd!' or 'Dis jus proves dat Hopkins wuda beat Calslappy in his prime' in this forum even if Hopkins doesn't throw a single punch during the fight.

Now if he fought someone like Pavlik or Dawson (if Chad beats G. Johnson) in the US and won in exciting fashion, the Americans would respect him.
You wouldn't have these GoodBoxFella's and the other idiots calling him a slapper. They should've had the Jeff Lacy fight in America.

I think it will be a close fight and would not be suprised if Bernard pull this one out. At his older age he's found ways to win. Is it going to be pretty who knows, but he finds ways to win, so I wouldn't count him out.

No version of Hopkins could beat Calzaghe.

Hopkins will take more punishment in this fight than his last 7 combined.

I see an Eddie Futch Manilla job.

I cant pick a winner for this one, I dont I'll ever be able to make a definitive prediction. Having said that, Im doubtful that Calzaghe will blow Hopkins out, it will probably be close..

I really dont think Hopkins is done, he may lose the fight but it should be a good fight. BHOP may be older but hes crafty and somewhat slick and can box. I see it being a close fight.

Hopkins will win this fight. Joey C is very good and Hopkins is great. Hopkins UD.

Lacy can't hold Hopkins' jock but in 2005, Hopkins was coming off 2 losses and looked old and shot while Lacy looked like the future of the SMW division.

It's a miracle that Hopkins is still fighting at the level he is and many people will realize this when he fights Calzaghe. Hopkins has no offensive output, his crafty defense and clinching tactics have kept him as a top fighter.

Either I am completely overrating Calzaghe or Hopkins has more in the tank than I think he does but I just don't see B-Hop winning.
I still remember those fights with Taylor, I also remember how he threw like 20 punches a round against Tarver and Wright. If Joe lets him get away with that, shame on him.

hopkins will use two ways to beat joe:

                1) smother him try and reduce the effectiveness of his wokrate and flurries of punches

                2) offensivley hopkins will see the straight right hand and his counter punching as the key

imo joe ca is capable of overcomingb both of these tactics - joe has great footwork - on the inside he will get away a few shots before hopkins gets anywhere near him.

joe has always been suspect to the straight right but hes got an incredible and extremly under rated chin and has only been dropped once. if hopkins decides counterpunching is the way to go then again he will fail, joe isnt afraid of gettin hit and isnt afraid of trading because he knows his speed means he can get off 4 shots while others only get off 2 - and he knows he can take those 2 punches.

calzaghe will win a unanimous desicion by 4/5 pnts.

The thread ask do people think Hopkins will get blown out by Joe?? I don't know if some people started watching boxing with Hatton vs Mayweather but there is no precedent whatsoever that Hopkins can be blown out. Joe is a very good fighter but he knows he's in the fight of his life.

Theres a ridiculous post here that Hopkins gets stopped in 8th, lol. I'll gladly BOT this thread. Heres the thing, Jeff Lacy who is arguably Joe's biggest win did have some *****s in his armor exposed. Namely in the Omar Sheika fight and early in the Robin Reid fight. On the other hand there isn't a style of fighter that Hopkins hasn't faced from aggressive, tall, fast, smaller, southpaw, etc. He's adapted to them all..

Whats going to happen in this fight is whoever can adjust better will win. People "say" calazaghe adjust well. I've seen Calazaghe fight from the outside and he's pretty basic. Bernard while no where near not even in his prime the volume puncher Calazaghe is, he's a smart calculating puncher. I have no doubt that Hopkins will nullify Calazaghe's speed by coming between his shots with right hands hooks to the body. Some holding, etc.

This is going to be an ugly fight because calazaghe will keep coming forward. Hopkins knows southpaws damn near as good as he does conventional fighters. Footwork will decide this fight namely can Hopkins nullify Joe's ability to create angles which I think is excellent on Joe's behalf.
