Marquez has better balance, better speed, better defense and a better jab. And all those advantages showed throughout the first 6 or 7 rounds in the fight. but in the process Vasquez power was too much for Marquez the shots he were landing would have an effect on Marquez later. For marquez to be able to floor Vasquez is impressive considering he is not a natural Super Bantamweight. The difference between these two fighters is the size/power because marquez will out skill vasquez all day. I was at this fight and the atmosphere was CRAAAZY!!!! It was a great fun fight to watch!!! Now that I have seen it on Tv it was the same fight I seen live. I just wanted to say thanks to these great fighters that gave me my money and drives worth to see this fight!! It's too ad this fight really wasn't promoted like it should have they deserve it. Not too mention they pay for these fighters is waaaay under paid. Much respect to these mexican warriors!! And by the way The point deduction was ****en bull ****!!! that cost marquez the fight! How can you take a way a point on a borderline punch on a fight so close with both guys fighting their hearts out! The ref should not be considered in any championship fights from here on out he decided the outcome of this fight, because if it wasnt for that ****** deduction this fight would have rightfully ended in a draw with no complaints from anybody.

Marquez is the more naturally gifted fighter but Vazquez' heart, will and determination to win is what set him apart in this fight, not to say Marquez doesn't have those qualities, because he does.
The low blow deduction was justified IMO, the referee had warned him 3 or 4 times about it and could have taken a point away earlier. -
in the end it was size/power that enabled vasquez to have that last round the way he did. The shots marquez was taking throughout the fight would have its tool Marquez in my opinion landed the harder cleaner shots but didnt have the same effect due to the size difference.Comment

I am not sure you can say that Vazquez is not the better fighter, considering he hurt Marquez with like every punch connected.
And it's not just the size issue that contributed to that. Marquez does not have the best chin, and Vazquez is a very powerful fighter.
I think even in P4P Vazquez would hurt Marquez with almost every punch because of Vazquez's power and Marquez's weak chin.Comment

Well, 3 fights in the bag, 2 wins later, I think Vasquez would tell you otherwise. These are 12 round fights remember. Just because you win the first half or so, doesn't mean it's over. Marquez is so lucky they didn't have to go into a 13th rd. He would have been ktfo.Comment

But power vs. power doesn't mean anything.
Even if Marquez hits harder P4P, the mathematical formula (if one could be made) favors Vazquez...
Marquez power + Vazquez chin = Probably a small advantage to Vazquez.
Vazquez power + Marquez chin = HUGE advantage to Vazquez.
EDIT: By the way, this thread was not about the more naturally talented fighter... it is about who is the better fighter.Comment

I think Vasquez is actually the more natural gifted fighter. While Marquez is the better schooled fighter.
Vasquez is also the stronger of the two.Comment
