Obviously they have. But as fights go longer and as defenses begin to lapse with fatigue there is going to be a greater chance of serious injury as the fight goes on. Longer fighter, better chance.

Does ANYONE think that Vazquez could have surged QUITE like that in the
15th round? I doubt it, highly.
Based on what you're saying here he would have conserved enough energy through making it "less exciting" and could have surged JUST like that in the 15th round.

And they also would have fought differently in a 15 round fight. One little thing, changes EVERY big thing. I'm not saying he wouldn't have. What I wonder is, is it needed? I say, no.

Get over it. 12 rounds. Both fighters know this, they train for it and fight it. It's pretty simple ****.

If it's less exciting, he doesn't hurt him as bad, period.

I agree with what you're saying pretextually, but that data does not suggest that in any sort of way. The evidence says it's no different.

Yes I would like to see 15 round fights again but only in higher weight divisions. I don't want to see two little guys like Vasquez/Marquez fighting for 15 rounds, cause one of them will probably end up dead.

I agree they train for 12 round fights although I think Vazquez could have gone 15 if he had to.

                  That's unproven theory.

What has been proven is that there is no difference.

                  By the numbers.

and its would be too brutal for fights like tonights.
