You don't understand nationality is given based on the Law, if Lewis was born after 1983 he wouldn't be english, because as the the law states at least 1 of his parents need to be British and neither were. He could not fight as an english fighter if born after 1983. period.
This Law affects the hundreds of thousand of immigrants who have entered the UK since 1983. What you think mean zero. the Law is based on what is most important, Parents nationality.Comment

[QUOTE=lennon;3192612]obviously his parents lived in England for the 12 years that he did and longer lol so they were likely british citizens as all the caribean peoples coming to Britain were, or would you begrudge all the black players that played for England, what about john Barnes, he wasnt even born in England yet played for the national team!
Fabrice Muamba is not EnglishComment

Lennox Lewis wants more funding for Canadian boxing
Former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis continues to follow Olympic boxing and is well aware of the medal drought Canada is currently enduring.
Lewis, who was named to the Canadian Sport Hall of Fame in May, won Olympic gold for Canada at the 1988 Seoul Games before moving on to have a highly successful pro career.
The former three-time world champion said Canadian amateur boxers need more funding in order to prosper at the Olympics.
"There are a lot of young, bright stars out there for boxing and they're not getting the opportunity," Lewis said during a recent conference call. "We have a lot of talent and lot of good prospects. We just need to feed them and nourish them."
Led by Lewis, Canadian boxing flourished in the 1980s, which included silver medals earned by Shawn O'Sullivan and Willie DeWit at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.Comment

Don't EVER forget that it was CANADIAN tax payers who paid for ALL the training travel etc maybe millions of dollars for him to go to TWO (2) olympics as a CANADIAN.
THEN when there are $$$$ on the line he goes to the British thing for the $$$
He's a f@g!!
remember that until he was in CANADA he NEVER boxed!!
Moved there at the age of 12!!
I think that its kind of ****ty and disrespectfull to the country that paid and paved the way for him.
P.S. Im canadian and never liked the guy..the brits can have him! I'll take Ken Lakusta any day!
I gotta say it i met Lennox once in a boxing shop in london and i gotta say he is a realy nice fella! He is ****ing Huge though lol he has got hands like bunches of Bannas ! i mean i am 6"1 and about 95kg and he made me look like a middle weight !
But he is a true gent!Comment

the only two places that can truly claim responsibility for all of Lennox's success are Canada and the continent of Africa where Lewis' ancestry originated. He has African blood running through his veins and he learned to love boxing and trained for boxing in Canada PERIOD. Britain and Jamaica didn't make Lewis what he was. Its kinda like a british buying a BMW and claiming its a british car just cuz its being driven and owned by a brit. the car might be enjoyed and owned by a british, but it will always be German.Last edited by -Swizzy-; 08-09-2008, 04:32 AM.Comment
