Byrd can't handle the power or activity of a Cruiser.
Light Heavy gives him a chance in his deteriorated state.

I'll be excited to see him fight at 175. I'm curious to see how his power will be against LHW's.

wow, you wouldn't expect that from an aging ex heavyweight champ, would ya? Good for Chris though, he'll find his shots will do more damage against those guys, and he won't have to worry about fighting those 6'6" guy anymore. It will be interesting to see, he's been a very good fighter his entire career, I'm sure that won't change.

Punching power and Chris Byrd don't belong in the same sentence, even at LHW. When was the last time Byrd knocked anyone out, 6 years ago?

Byrd has to be the Champ at having the lowest KO% for a champion. Def for a HW, and possible for any weight LOL

It's on now, so I want all of them to be put on notice!" Full interview with Byrd to follow Monday morning. Remember where you heard it first! (10:25 PM EST)

I used to be a fan of Byrd when he was on usa fnf, good to hear he is fighting at a lighter weight but im afraid its too late and he already surpased and excided any expectation anyone had for him. I don't know how comfortable he will be, but i don't think he'll fare well at light heavyweight it will effect him and he will see more punchs coming at him.

IF this move happens, it MIGHT help him. He will lose his quickness advantage and his workrate advantage. however, he will have a power advantage (the kid did hurt some big guys every now and then) and a chin advantage. I personally can't wait until Byrd retires and becomes an excellent trainer. He just understands the game and effective counter-punching and slipping shots and great footwork. honestly, its those previous attributes that will help him the most IF he goes down to lightheavyweight. I have never really been a big fan of his, but have always respected Chris Byrd. I imagine a fight with the likes of Adrian Diaconu and Shaun George could be useful to all involved to see how good each fighter is.
