He was a small heavyweight, he started his career at 169 pounds.

Good news for Byrd, but his days are numbered...

Usually fighters move up with age, moving down...
Can he compete on speed and slickness? he is not what he used to be..

But to his benefit, all top dawgs at LHW are just as old (except Dawson)

Regardless if Chris wants to continue with boxing, this seems like the only logical solution for him. He is done at HW and there is no money at Cruiser.

So yes, I support his move!

Who does he beat? Johnson. I would give him a fare shot against Tarver as well.

He should stay out of Hopkins, RJJ's and Calzaghe's way.

Not trying to bash but that list of marquee names looks like a who's who graveyard of yesteryear.

He fought Calzaghe at middleweight in the amateurs didn't he. Maybe we'll see a rematch.

                Punching power?

Punching power and Chris Byrd don't belong in the same sentence, even at LHW. When was the last time Byrd knocked anyone out, 6 years ago?

Byrd has to be the Champ at having the lowest KO% for a champion. Def for a HW, and possible for any weight LOL

IMO At this point of his career, going down in weight will only cause more damage than good... I think Byrd should retire (with everything in tact), knowing he had a pretty good career, b/c his days at the top are over!

He shurely would beat Tarver but im not so shure about Johnson. Johnson could outwork him.

But i think his punches could be much more effective against 175 pounders.
If he changes his style a bit he can do damage. Remember early in his career Byrd had much more stopages.
